Ion Maiden is now available In Development, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Bombshell is back, more pissed, determined, and pixelated than ever. This time dispensing violence in first person, she goes on a righteous rampage against a mad cult leader and his cybernetic army. Gonzo FPS action, multi-path levels filled with secrets, guns, and guts, plus all the old-school goodness you've come to expect from a shooter spawned by the legendary Build engine which powered Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Reminder: Owners of Bombshell Digital Deluxe Edition have access to a prequel demo of Ion Maiden, containing several hours of gameplay.
I'm gonna buy it for three reasons:

A compatriot is involved in the development of this game. (Si, te guglié)

12U$D is not much.

I like the preview campaign of Ion Maiden, (even when, for technical reasons, I was initially very reluctant about another pixelated DN3D clone.)

tedeee: why? so it can run on my toaster :D

i went for the artistic context in my own mind, that may be a stretch but i like the idea. it's a prequel to Bombshell so they are making the game look like a prequel by using the old engine.

Zoidberg: Mmh, ok. So there's that at least. :p
You've done more than your fair share of pissing and whining, so you really ought to buy it at this point. o.O
From what I've played in the prequel demo of Ion Maiden its worth every penny of $20.... I've never seen a build game look this good, flow this nice, or have that retro feeling... I loved this, every second of the demo... and i want more...

You guys did great, this is fantastic.. thank you for giving us the bombshell we deserve that was ripped from Duke Nukem Forever never to be heard from again... until now!

Speaking of, if any DEV of 3D Realms is here... any chance on talking certain *gears and *boxes into releasing Duke Nukem Forever here!? ^_^
Damn, I am genuinely hyped for this game now. Please don't disappoint Voidpoint/3D Realms!
I love the look of the classic gameplay! :D

robertgg: Early Access/Paid Beta with Regional Discriminating Price to top it off. Pass
Hi! This is not a beta. The preview campaign is not the same as the full game.

About the regional pricing, thats out of our hands really. Steam does it so i guess if Gog didnt do it, it would look bad for then.

amok: can anyone translate this, please?
avatar
Fairfox: youre funny! x
You're not.
Would be snagging this, except it's not finished so wish-listed for now...Too bad, I thought this was a new release, not a paid alpha, as I do not buy unfinished games no matter how great due to the game nullifying your progress/saves from the constant radical game changes...

I really hope we don't have to wait for a year or two before it's complete, at least it's an InDev title and not the crap-shoot that is an exclusive steam-EA!
Wish this went up a week ago before I bought it on Steam. Oh wells. People who think they'll like this should get it, it's exactly what it says on the tin.

johnnygoging: does anybody know how this differs from the Bombshell goodie? I'm assuming this is where the updates will go like PCU1.
The current In Dev/EA build of Ion Maiden is the same as the preview demo that was given to owners of Bombshell.

But the latter will be receiving updates until it is feature complete.

Developer confirmation from the Discord channel in the screen shot below.

Hey Guys! Fred from 3D Realms here.
Super happy you guys like the game!

It was pretty nerve-wrecking to put this out there.

The team making the game is absolutely fantastic, and I'm glad to be part of it!

I originally envisioned Ion Maiden back in 2015, as I've had a dream of making a new official 3D Realms game, using the original Build Engine. I reached out to the fantastic Build community, and we quickly assembled an incredible team alongside Richard and Evan from Voidpoint (eDuke32).

These guys are top of the line. Besides having maintained the engine since we released the Source Code for Duke Nukem 3D, they have also kept the community alive with countless amazing maps and mods.

3 years later, and the Preview Campaign of Ion Maiden is finally in your hands, and it's as good as I could ever have hoped for!

We can't wait to share more with you during 2018!

Meanwhile, enjoy and spread the word!

Have you guys ever considered approaching Atari to do a source port/remaster of BLOOD?
Just like in almost every sellable item theres a Vintage version of it or of its kind so there is to a market for "vintage" video games.
Simplicity almost everytime is everything, and in games is no exception.
This type of games are refreshingly welcome in a -FPS HD on rails saturated everybody does it but almost none does it right- market.
But make no mistake, the todays audience wants innovation so if they want to make this kind of game definetly they need to add todays kind of features to yesterdays kind of game.
In my opinion there should be more interactivity with the game itself, ledge grabbing jumps, throwing objects, the goddam MightyFoot that i so miss in every FPS i play, rpg features like character, weapon customization even if minor, that cave, house, den, village kind of thing where you can get your missions, buy&sell, interact. Oh and if this is to be a Duke alike then make her a pottymouth, extreme feminist, oneliner, ballbuster kind of woman.
Dont get me wrong, i do love oldschool kind of games, but it is a major letdown to be just another throwback shooter.
Make it stand out. Make it immersable because that is what makes everyone love it and come back for more- immersion and customization- Giving the character life, making us care for the character and the story, and please a todays artist synthwave soundtrack, will do the trick.
Take hints from the great ones, system shock-deus ex-duke nukem 3d-blood...
For the place that this game whats to take in video game market, in the current state, there are bigger, better and cheaper old games to play, so if it comes to be just another one it will fall flat.
But that its just my opinion.
Anyway, love what you do and honestly wish the best of luck to the new 3D Realms.

Is it true that Buce Dickinson voices a character in this game?
