Ion Maiden is now available In Development, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Bombshell is back, more pissed, determined, and pixelated than ever. This time dispensing violence in first person, she goes on a righteous rampage against a mad cult leader and his cybernetic army. Gonzo FPS action, multi-path levels filled with secrets, guns, and guts, plus all the old-school goodness you've come to expect from a shooter spawned by the legendary Build engine which powered Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Reminder: Owners of Bombshell Digital Deluxe Edition have access to a prequel demo of Ion Maiden, containing several hours of gameplay.
Can the Ion Maiden Build engine play the original Duke3D maps?

Enebias: Well, at least it is a reworked build engine. I doubt there are other engines that can allow that kind of action without being preposterously expensive to make.
The base was already there, ok, that's a fact, but all the work of level, sprite, texture and combat design comes from hard work. I think 20 bucks is fair, I actually feared they would have charged much more.

Zoidberg: With the content of 20 years of modded d3d, who in their right mind would put 20 euros in that?

Sorry, I just don't get it. There's retro inspired games... and there's this.

I can't get behind that.
The retro graphics and engine are part of the charm and there is a lot more work that goes into a game than just its graphics.

I liked Bombshell and I look forward to seeing what led to the events of that game.

Looks great, going to get it tomorrow.
does anybody know how this differs from the Bombshell goodie? I'm assuming this is where the updates will go like PCU1.

my understanding was that the bombshell goodie was the EA thing at the EA thing's launch. or was it something separate?

I think I get why you did it that way and I think it's great you guys tried to support gog users in that launch window.

super stoked for this game. I haven't played Bombshell or the the Bombshell goodie yet but I am going to soon. I think you've nailed the visuals of everything I've seen so far. I think you're on time with this one and I think you've got the people to bring it off. I hope you hit this one for a home run.
I gave the demo thing a whirl. It wasn't bad, but personally... I think 2.5D FPS games ought to stay in the 90s. :-p They have really not aged well...

With that said - the Ion Maiden demo did feel pretty well-made (for a 90s game.) It's just not my cup of tea.

Build games are timeless, 2.5D is immortal. Doom3 did age into fugly and bumpy while Classic Doom didn't get old at all staying classy and crisp. Same for Shadow Warrior or Blood, it's also the case here. Although these hires sprites feels more like something out of Hacx or Harmony... ;p

Hearing a lot of good things about this one.

Any chance that Bombshell will get a sale soon (or a price drop?) in the next day or so?
Thanks for the Linux version 3D Realms!
Pre-ordered from both here and Steam! I'm beyond ecstatic for a new Build engine game. Thank you, 3D Realms! :D

As far as I know the bombshell goodie and the EA are the same preview missions. I hope those of us who got the bombshell goodie will get the same updates as the EA version or at least a discount.

Bombshell is a good game if you can look past the bugs (there are a few areas in the second to last ice planet level where you can fall through the floor and the quest for the final weapon does not always give you that weapon). I am on my second playthrough.

ok thanks. I'm pretty sure they won't update it because that's what this is for. they'll keep updating this until it launches.
