Cyraxpt: I think this one needs a special presentation, my vote goes to:

"Hey gamers, do you feel like there isn't enough shovelware on Steam Greenlight? HB presents Humble Make Your Own Cringy Game Bundle."
avatar
rampancy: Jim Sterling's gonna have a field day with this one. Why doesn't HIB just throw in a whole bunch of Unity Store assets while they're at it?
I think they should have a Humble Sterling Bundle, perhaps they could donate the proceeds to a charity that teaches tigers to dress better.
I recently started playing around with RPG Maker VX Ace (from a previous Humble Bundle), and I love trying game creation tools, so even though I have a lot of what's in this bundle I bought the $12 tier. Anyway, expect shovelware for me in the future. :)

Here's a complete list of what the bundle offered me:

Steam keys:
- Axis Game Factory: AGFPRO v3.0
- Game Guru
- Remnants of Isolation
- Last Word
- Labyrinthine Dreams
- Aveyond: Lord of Twilight
- Axis Game Factory: Drone Kombat
- Game Guru: Mega Pack 1
- Game Guru: Buildings Pack
- Crimzon Clover WORLD IGNITION
- RPG Maker: VX Ace Deluxe (this is probably just normal RPG Maker: VX Ace)
- RPG Maker: Luna Engine
- Game Character Hub
- App Game Kit 2
- Spriter Pro
- Sprite Lamp
- Axis Game Factory: AGFPRO Premium DLC
- Axis Game Factory: AGFPRO Voxelsculpt
- Game Guru: Fantasy Pack
- Game Guru: Megapack 3
- Goats On A Bridge

Downloads:
- App Game Kit 2
- Game Dev Starter Pack
- Humble Bundle Exclusive DLC Pack
- Humble Bundle Fantasy DLC Pack
- Humble Bundle New DLC Pack
- Humble Bundle Sci-Fi DLC Pack
- Humble Bundle Starter DLC Pack
- Mibibli's Quest
- Sprite Lamp

Additional stuff:
- Stencyl: Indie Edition 1-Year License
- $10 Game Dev Fort Store Credit Code (Note: the only sub-$10 product there is already in the bundle)
- Humble Store 90% Off RPG Maker Coupons

Some comments about the products:

I backed App Game Kit 2 on Kickstarter but only played a bit with v1. It offers both BASIC programming and a C++ library, and generally looked okay but not anything special. Still, v2 has a different editor, a debugger, 3D stuff and more. There's integration of mobile features.

I has AGF Pro and tried it. Didn't like it. Felt like a limited subset of Unity, which gave me the feeling that I might as well just use Unity. Still, I haven't really tried the DLC, and I guess as a Unity add-on resources it could work.

I'm currently enjoying learning RPG Maker VX Ace. I think it's a nice easy tool for some basic storytelling.

adaliabooks: Would I be able to, for example, dump the combat system entirely and put something else in, like a turn based roguelike one?
There are several battle system scripts for VX Ace. Googling, I couldn't find a roguelike one, but I don't see why one couldn't be written (and apparently one existed for VX). I also found this Random Dungeon Generator.

REDVWIN: I am still deciding between Spriter Pro DRM Free or the version that comes in this bundle... I have C2 BE (DRM Free) and would prefer that route... but anyway, the bundle looks good for a person that wants to spend his/her freetime learning before getting more into the next level.
I personally bought Spriter when it was in Beta (priced at 10/15$ back then). Now, as the price has greatly increased (60$ currently), I would rather advise you to get the DRM'ed version in this bundle to first getting past the learning curve (coz rigging and animating isn't simple) and most important : does it really fit your needs in the end.

If after this kind of "paid trial", you're still in, then you could make some comparisons with Anime Studio Debut 11 as it's the same type of program with a slightly different interface/workflow for around the same price (50$)and with a bigger user community (making it easier if you have a question). You can get a 30-day free trial version:

adaliabooks: Sooo.... does anyone know if any of this is any good?

I used to play around with RPG Maker (2000 I think, though possibly 2003) years ago and found it quite fun but very limited. Has much changed with the newer ones?
Would I be able to, for example, dump the combat system entirely and put something else in, like a turn based roguelike one?

It's somewhat tempting as it's under £8 so it's not much of a loss even if it's not great...
You'd be better off using something like the character maker and then importing those into GameMaker or another utility. I've seen rogue-likes made in RPG Maker and they weren't good.

Nonetheless, you can get a lot of enjoyment out or RPG Maker.

ET3D: ..list...
Thank you for that!

I already have GameGuru and pack 1, 2 and fantasy. It was wondering if it offered more content there. And it does!

I think I'll be getting the high tier. I want to play with App Game Kit, too.

I've used RPG Maker and TheGameCreators stuff since their inceptions. Folks complain about it, but they are really nice for hobbyists who don't want to devote their life to making a game. It's just for funsies.

That is why I love making the treasure hunts. Because I love to develop little games and getting folks to play them makes it so much more enjoyable.

ET3D:
I'll dd to that with Stencyl appearing to be a decent first timers program as well - fairly intuitive with a non-overwhelming interface and a load of community tutorials and resources.
Might not make the next Total War or witcher game on it, but you can certainly do some good things.

Dude. Witcher 3 was made on Stencyl! Hence the bad graphics. :-P

I just bought mine. I didn't even see that spriter pro on there. That looks like a very nice program!

P.S. That makes 3 VX Aces I own. :)

Any positive feedback on Game Dev Starter Pack from those who used?

ET3D:
I very much appreciate the list as well! Would it be ungrateful to ask for a tier by tier breakdown? :D

I've been using GameGuru for the past month. It's very slow, needs a strong computer, and is still in active development. You can definitely make something with it, but it will definitely be very "hobby"-ish.

All tutorials are in nice youtube videos which I'm still working on.

AI seems quite lousy. The graphics are fair, but some talented people have made some really nice-looking graphics.

The active development excites me. They plan on adding a lot of RPG features, which excites me a lot. The fantasy pack adds a 3rd person perspective and in the future will allow spells to be cast.

I got it for $30 last month and mildly regretted it. It seemed like a nice package, but not worth $30. For $12, I'd get it in a heartbeat, though. And everything else would be jus extra.

As for Axis Game Factory, I haven't used it. But I have read a lot about it. It looks like it's fun for a hobbyist to tinker with, but not much more.

MaximumBunny: You can probably make a game in 30 mins, make it grindy so they have to spend 2+ hours on it, and then make $1,000+ off of the trading cards alone.
Wow, I gotta try this, one month of work and I can retire! Any suggestions on how to make these games in 30 mins? :D

HB doesn't provide this information so it would be a work of guessing. Unless someone who only bought the BTA tells us what keys are up that tier.
I've always wanted to try and make my own game just for myself, but I don't know anything about code and all. The bundle sounds cool, but above my price range to just mess around in. :)

I figured since ET3D listed everything from the bundle (which is also not clearly provided by HB), s/he may have bought it already.

For the software listed, that's as cheap as you'll find, by a long shot. But there's also lots of things you can work on that are free. If you want to make an RPG, definitely pick up RPG Maker. If you're making an arcade game, grab the free demo of GameMaker.
