budejovice: I had never heard about Transmetropolitan of course. Someone PM me when that bundle comes out! :) That looks super cool.

madth3: At the risk of going off-topic (and we know that never happens in these forums) Transmetropolitan is one of my all time favourite series.

There are no comic stores in my city (at least right now, to my knowledge) although every now and then someone opens one for a while. Fortunately, I live like five hours away from the big capital, Mexico City and of course you can get comics there.

In 2002 I took the plunge and bought the first TPB of Transmetropolitan (and Sandman too by the way) and everytime I found myself going there for something I looked for the next part of those series. Sometimes I found them, sometimes they were out of stock. In 2004, I think, I finally managed to complete it.

And it was worth it. Every peso, every trip to the store and every kilo I carried.

I don't expect to see a Vertigo bundle anytime soon (and I'd love to be wrong) so local store sales or Amazon are probably the best offer.
Thanks for the nice reply. I'll stay off topic for just a moment, then I'll let everyone back to the regularly scheduled comments. :)

As soon as I read about the series I checked amazon. It's all there, just over $10/trade paperback collection. Wishlisted.

It's a shame you're 5 hours away from a comic store. And 5 hours away from one of my favorite cities in the world. :) The population density of my neighborhood is higher than any other between SF & Vancouver and we just got our shop not long ago - the first one in the 'hood in decades. However our situation before the opening was much better than yours - there's a shop in the Pike Place Market, about 20 minutes away by foot. I can only hope the one a few blocks from me stays open - once I get a slight handle on the modern scene I'll have to patronize them to show some support.

EDIT: I'm dense, but not so dense as to have never heard of Sandman, btw. ;)

might be just image comics related

i dont see anything i like in this bundle so im going to skip it
So tempted by the top tier for The Walking Dead alone. I can get the first two compendiums from the Google Play store for a little over £19 each (DRM-free, or so they say) while the dollar converstion rate put this bundle at a third off that price. Plus everywhere I go about this topic people keep raving about Saga as well.

Why not? Because they are very popular? Or because they love DRM? Or...?

I'd love to see a Sandman bundle one of these days. I'd love to own those comics again. (I had to get rid of them when I moved back to Spain, as I couldn't carry everything with me). And I had the first two volumes of the Absolute edition. They were simply gorgeous.
Well, although I don't know of any specific statement, DC is owned by Warner and big corporations tend to like their DRM.
The may think they don't need the exposure and PR of being in a HB. Sandman is a solid seller that doesn't need sales.

Also, I don't think Vertigo is getting as much attention lately as it had in the past.

Ultimately, I might be completely wrong here. It's just my personal opinion why I will not be holding my breath. :-)

Just a very quick update from yesterday. I both supported the local store and began my descent into Transmetropolitan by purchasing the first book. I don't think their short-term existence hinges on my support, though, as there were 25 or 30 people in there playing games. :)

Great choice!

Sadly, I've seen comic stores pull lots of people that love to have a place to hang out and still close because their "customers" were not really buying things. Let's hope this is not the case.
By the way, the first freebie is ODY-C #1 which is not part of the bundle, at the moment.
Shutter #1 is another freebie not in the bundle.

Hopefully, Vol. 1 (#1-6) will be added this week.

I didn't sign up for the freebies and got them in the bundle.
Added to the BTA tier:

- Nailbiter Vol. 1 (#1-5)
- Stray Bullets Vol. 1 (#1-7)
- Southern Bastards Vol. 1 (#1-4)
- Shutter Vol. 1 (#1-6)
