budejovice: It's annoyed me since Witcher Adventure Game, when it phoned home to update Galaxy when I tried to launch the game, when I didn't want Galaxy in the first place, and it locked me out of the game because the internet connection was too slow.
For Witcher Adventure Game like for Double Dragon just click the exe in the folder and the game will totally bypass Galaxy and won't try to connect.
I hope GOG will let us choose during installation whether to inject Galaxy's code (implement Galaxy functionality) into game's binary or not ("Completely optional", remember?). It is better if it will be done during game's installation. This way there will be no need for serving 2 setup files to customers (with galaxy and without).

Also, if you'll inject galaxy's code into game's binary, wine emulator will consume more cpu cycles and more ram to run the game. That's why it is important to provide option to have "stripped of galaxy" version.
I haven't tried Galaxy yet, but did GOG really forget to write "alpha version" in the program? -_-'

I play(ed) WAG on Mac. Not sure if there's a similar work around. My point, though, is that a workaround shouldn't be necessary.

gunsynd: make it ask if we even want it installed.

That's a must as far as I'm concerned.
I swear, if that crap installs itself on my computer without asking I will never buy anything more on GOG.

What are you talking about? Installs itself?

Do you think it could do that? What? I don't even...

Same here, Galaxy sounds exactly like what I DO NOT want on my 'Puter.
how is the galaxy multiplayer in double dragon ?? easy to find players ? pings?
i am assuming the game will also have achievements etc like steam in future since galaxy is integrated?

Again, what the hell are you guys going on about? How can it install without your permission? I seriously don't understand what you think is going to happen. Or could happen.

Please explain your fears.

Magmarock: The Galaxy Client is starting to behave more and more like an annoying DRM thing. I decided to test how intrusive Galaxy would be to an offline system by blocking it with my firewall.

I just installed double dragon into my custom directory and Galaxy installed itself into Program Files (86) without asking.

The second thing is that after the games shortcut was placed on the desktop I tried to launch it only to get an error message about Galaxy not being able to update.

In the need I was able to launch the game, but Galaxy is really starting to piss me off. GOG Please change the way works. Maybe you could make it ask if we even want it installed.

I chose where it installed. I don't know what people are freaking out about.

They are talking about the multiplayer client that comes prewrapped in games like AVP2000 or Witcher Adventure. I complained about it too only to find that this is a temporary stop-gap measure until the Galaxy client is ready to rock and roll. Then there won't be any install of a semi-client on systems as it will check if Galaxy is there and use it, and if it's not, you don't get the MP features. Pretty simple.

Thank you for explaining. That was not at all clear.

Simple, be installed with game without user consent or control.

Fears: that Galaxy won't allow to me dl the game/patch installers & use the Steamish "install-from-web" approach
I also have no need for
sorting
MP
Achievements

AVPC2000 version 2.0.0.25 does that? Cause want to check it out by my self.

I need sorting. No time to sort games when a client can do it for me.
A client for MP is easier for users.
Achievements are cool.

Still, those features are optional. GOG front promotional is being DRM free, so they will not quit that; if they do, the company will be just other thing and that happens only when a company broke.
The Galaxy client stub that is installed with AVP and Witcher (and I guess Double Dragon) is not currently optional, but I'm confident that will be addressed upon completion of the full Galaxy client. The Galaxy Client stub is NOT required to play these games, and can be ignored if you do not wish to do multiplayer.
