melhadf: I'm glad you like the text adventure.

I was thinking of a couple of updates, such as more boilerplate responses and tweaking the random chances of getting a refund... it's currently rather easy. But I'll think of the best way to include added shennanigans too.
Frontier decide to dispute refund charge back of credit card company.

So your text adventure of successful refund may fail even you use credit card charge back

... man these guys are dicks. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse.

While I get them wanting to dispute chargebacks, as those actually come with *extra* costs to the company getting chargebacked, the reason those happened in the first place is largely their own fault in this case.

I guess the really immersive experience that David Braben supposed could only be achieved through always-online only isn't really that immersive.
Either that or the game really sucks.

But I admit that I'm biased. The lack of offline mode made me grumpy concerning this game.

Wonder why huh? Given this high metacritic score and user score......

I guess that, for some folks, Elite is more akin to a sort of religion, rather than a videogame series.
I took some times but I finally received a new response to my support ticket saying that they were refunding me my full £105 pledge. So hopefully in some days I should have my money back...

I've got the same one for my 80£ pledge. 8 Days before we know if they will keep words for once...

Got my money back on PayPal yesterday... so I can finally put this "issue" to rest.

The only thing that still "worry/bother" me is how did they manage to obtain my PayPal information; I never gave it to them and I am pretty sure that I paid using Amazon, like the other KS, using a different e-mail address than the one on my PayPal account...

The only thing i could think of is did you buy anything through their own store other than that they should not have had your paypal details.

Glad that you got a full refund seems they are now paying out a lot of people just now wander what has changed to have them stop digging their heels on this.

I'm guessing either their financial situation changed (game sales brought in enough money that they actually can issues refunds), or someone escalated to a UK regulatory body and they got a call that scared them straight.

The fear of losing a trial most likely. They laid off some people recently ( http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2015-01-26-frontier-redundancies-as-it-refocuses-development-in-uk ), is there some kind of connection ?

Meh, frankly, I've got my money back and Frontiers can rot in hell for all I care...
I also got an email saying they were going to refund my £85 in full. I'm still waiting on it though. They've got their self-imposed deadline of next Tuesday for my money to show up...

There doesn't have to be. Laying off workers after you finished a project and if there is no follow up project is kind of common in the video game industry. Not sure if this is a clear sign on how good/bad Elite Dangerous sells.

So now they refund but before they endured the full outrage. Seems a bit futile to me.

Elite: Dangerous is going into console world now.

I guess it won't take long for the game to become "pew-pew-pew Call of Duty Battlestar".
