PirroEpirote: Giving up on Cloud Saves then (and making them contingent on ever-changing policy IS giving up on them), and in such an unprofessional way, is quite telling. A real forward-looking business would have found alternate arrangements (e.g., cheaper storage - which is today dime a dozen - and/or mass compression techniques) that probably wouldn't have required a huge investment.
So I finally managed to take some time and deal with my only 2 games above the quota - Deus Ex and TES Oblivion and strangely both games are just a little above it - showing 600mb of saves for both. It is strange because I still keep my Deus Ex files on my PC and they are above 2 gigs! So I downloaded a backup of my saves to see what is going on with Galaxy and what do you know - it seems they do keep all my 2gigs of Dues Ex saves compressed to 600mb! I was really surprised but it seems they do use some sort of compression technique!

And about the cheaper storage - some people here have pointed out that the issue is very likely not the storage and its cost but the access to that storage (every time you sync) which is not cheap at all.

So the only way to download my backup saves is to install GOG galaxy again, install a 50GB game, and then download the saves? This is such a shitty way. Normally I wouldnt complain about downloading a game to download saves but since that GOG is deleting saves, there has got to be a better way to download saves This has left such a bad impression of GOG. I'll just download them just in case and never come back.

In Galaxy every game has a tab called Extras. There at the bottom you will see "cloud saves backup". You click on that and it will download your saves, no need to download the games!
Now you see the absurdity of having everything in the cloud yes? ~ Londo Mollari drunk on Swedish Meatballs
I would think a smart person deletes ageold savegames, especially those from inactive players. OR unrelated files at first.

BEFORE ruining the experience for active players.

But its the stupid at work here

king_kunat: Hey everyone! You might have already or will soon receive an email from us about your cloud storage with a link to the dedicated clean-up tool. Don't be alarmed by the "salesmanago" part contained in their URLs. It's a legitimate email and link from us.

Send-out of these emails is happening in batches to ensure a smooth experience for everyone managing their savefiles, and not strain our infrastructure. We’ll also have a proper announcement once the majority of emails go out, and more options to access the tool besides just the email link.
No email received. (I check spam folders regularly.)

Just happened to visit the forum today, and this is the first information seen regarding this change.

Very disappointing.
I think I have maybe 3 games I've played, and the primary one is Cyberpunk... and currently I can't sync any game saves to the cloud. I've removed nearly every save game file and I cannot sync my saves at all.

This is beyond frustrating.
