Fairfox: naaah i think anythang in decades-long male-dominated industries taht push certain ideas to a wide an'—in this medium—usual lee young impressionable audience (an' imma talkin' misogyny even if tongue firm lee innnn teh cheek-hole liek duke-y, or anythang else along teh same lines liek toxic masculinity... which is negative fooor males as well as others #obvskobvs) can deffo shape perceptions an' how peeps interact with those taht are diff'rent to themselves in a wider society, re: realitiea naht virtual.

i feel overall impact is based on constant slew of wut is deemed 'teh norm'... taht is to say whole criteria an' peeps mek teh mistake of thinkin' thar is one keyd definin' thang rather than slow detri-mental erosion outlook in wut is nao fast-paced, on-teh-pulse social media tiemz. thar has even been studies dun—i kno iowa state uni even did one naht so long ago (2017?)—taht looked at gamies influencin' an' solidifyin' sexist attitudes an' wut cues are picked up on
The idea that video games are a tool for a male-dominated industry to brainwash kids into becoming sexists sounds about as credible as the idea that ideologue university professors are brainwashing their students into believing "toxic masculinity" is an actual thing that's actually plaguing western society (and the wacky world of video games in particular) now.

Come to think of it, the latter scenario sounds a whole lot more credible: One is just a piece of entertainment that no one in their right mind would ever take seriously, the other is held up by society as a role model and a supposed authority on... stuff. Who are you more inclined to believe? Who is supposed to teach you how the world works? Video games or teachers?
You can break down the idea of Duke Nukem into it's component parts:

Old school FPS action: Definitely can work today, and has
Doom definitely proved that, never mind the slew of indie games that ape that style.

Goofy humour: Definitely can work today, and has:
Stuff like Shadow Warrior with "Mess with the bull, and get the Wang" and other "dumb" funny jokes

"Naughty" bits: Definitely can work today, and has:
Saints Row series is a prime example. Whacking people with giant purple dildos, an bit where a guy in a gimp suit pulls a rickshaw in a chase sequence where you hunt down the baddie.

Hyper-Machismo: Definitely can work today, and has:
I mean, almost every video game protagonist ever? Why would anyone think this wouldn't work? God of War is a great example from this year.

And finally, this. I've no idea how to even classify it.
It's not the bad humour that's the problem (other games succeed today with bad humour).
It's not the nudity that's the problem, as mentioned, other games today succeed with nudity.
It's not the ideas of sexual intercourse that's the problem, other games succeed with that today.
It's not the cussing that's the problem, other games succeed with that today.

So yeah, it's got nothing to do with "political correctness" or "emasculating our heros" or "SJWs are taking away our games!", if you want to look for a reason other than bad gameplay why something like Duke Nukem wouldn't survive today, it's cringeworthy stuff like that.

But if you feel that last bit isn't necessarily what makes Duke Nukem Duke Nukem, then sure! It absolutely can exist in today's climate.

Honestly I think we need more role models like Duke Nukem these days.

Well, we kinda have Duke Nukem for president. Does that count?

Not really similar at all. But if he starts giving amazing one liners about bubblegum that could change

Can you imagine the Primarchs you'd get from that burnt-out gene seed, though?

Sandwichius, LAMEMAN Russ, Robot Goldenskin, Rogaine Dork. Man, I don't even think Grimdark would support that level of horror.

EL OH EL!
Well, if children are so impressionable (especially male children rather than female children?!), then maybe children ought not be encouraged to believe in Santa Claus.

Besides, Duke Nukem is more than enough of a replacement.

Indeed, we shouldn't harm children by encouraging them to believe in any pure fantasy, such as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or the patriarchy.

WomenInKitchen: Preach.
Considering your username and that you just signed up now, to post here, suggests you're trying to turn what's a reasonable conversation into a farce by pretending to be in support of it while being over the top misogynistic. 'WomenInKitchen' as you suggest in your username is going too far. Men can be masculine and proud of it without needing to put women down to do so.
