Duke Nukem isn't the problem. It's "today's climate" that's the problem.

I assume it would be like Broforce or OSS117. If anything it might work better nowadays. Big Trouble in Little China does, too.

But i'm no duke nukem expert.

Edit: also Ash vs The Evil Dead functions very well now.

Plus i once again don't understand the hate for DNF as a game. I mean yes it lacked some things (not enough gore, couldn't use many weapons as you could in 3D and graphics were good but lacking) but to call it a "Shitty game"...
Well that's overreacting.

I'd give it a 80% overall.

I'd give it a 80% overall.
The reaction boils partly down how the review game works now. anything that isn't 8/9/10 is dropped into the comfortable position of being seen as 'bad' by the bulk of would-be consumers. I don't think DNF is a 'good' game, but one of the worst? far from it. Just an 'ok' game that acts as a curious example of developing a game between multiple gens and industry trends.

Because past generations were so abusive there is no longer a tolerance for even gentle 'razzing.'

Problem being the small razzings lay in people's psyche's and collect until they start mistaking influenced stereotyping for intuition.

And on a subliminal level this affects people's decisions even though they don't fully realize it.

If you read the reviews a lot of the hate for it from reviewers was based around console version issues I didn't experience. Mostly glitches and insanely long load times, plus the depth of field which looked horrid and on PC you could turn off. Not saying the game is super great or anything, just that a lot of the "this is complete trash" stuff came from the Xbox.

I think some parts of the game were pretty good while others were lacking, which reflects its long dev time and on again off again team. A new game with clear direction could absolutely be a winner IMO.

80%? No way... 6/10 at best.

That said, a big part of the hate were the expectations. You don't work on a game for a decade and a half and release a 6/10. Especially when earlier trailers blew away the final release.

Are those the only topics of discussion on this forum? Sex, gender sensibilities... I am a bit tired.
Also, Duke Nukem is a parody of 80's action movies, and a quite fitting one. Why people must get offended for every single stupid thing? Live and let live, for Adanos' sake!

(Also, I am the first to say that a joke is not funny if it is not politically incorrect. That does not make people who use said jokes bad, though. Heck, I had a Jew friend who said things of such auto-irony that if a non-Jew spoke them they would probably be arrested for racial slur. Take thinks more lightly, cheer up!)

I can't see it being made, as much as I'd love it to be. People in 2018 are too sensitive and a bunch of complete pussies compared to how we were in the '90s. It's a sad fact. Bring back offensive macho sexist humour. Enjoy life whilst we can before lefties take those too.

The team behind Duke Nukem 3D was eight people. This gives them some artistic leeway, that is not granted to big companies. Also, the sprites were really low resolution, which gave it some distance.

But I think a Duke Nukem 3D game could work today. Of course, it would have to find a way to distance itself from fascists Gamers who would praise the game as a political victory.

By the way, I think I read somewhere that they got the idea of adding babes really late in production, just before release. Anyone else remembering something like this?
