Yeah the languages are still a mess, hopefully they'll fix it really soon and not soon™

Hopefully. It's a bit annoying to see "Hintergrundbilder" and "Character Biographies" in same extra category (was Defender's Quest in that case). But i'm still not sure if i'll use galaxy that often in the future anyway...

CarrionCrow: Well, I have to say, I got the timing entirely wrong for Galaxy hitting beta.

Whether I end up using it long-term or not, I have to respect GOG for putting in the massive amounts of time, effort and money required to build such a framework.

Time to stress test this thing. From what I've read, I can have Galaxy scan and import my folder.
If it can manage to do so right off the bat when I've got every single game of the nearly 800 I own here in desktop folders? I'll be impressed.

EndreWhiteMane: Don't expect too much, you're going to do a LOT of downloading.

Morning everyone. ;)
Seems that way. Galaxy in its current form is choking on the folders I have, both the smaller one for beaten/dead games and the immensely larger primary one, saying neither contains files to import.

If I'm expected to redownload my entire library, that's an instant dealbreaker, unfortunately. Even with all the time I have on my hands, combined with not having an internet data cap, I can't sit here and download almost 900 gigs of stuff again. I'd lose my frigging mind in the process.

Good morning. =)

Moin Crow :)

900 GB ??? But yeah i think Galaxy has trouble importing the stuff...
Good morning! (afternoon and evening) to everyone.
Hope you are all doing well, for the day, and the mid-week is
favorably guiding you through all the way to the weekend. :)

The Galaxy Client beta is here, there, and available everywhere...
I ordered one, with a side of coleslaw and cheesy poofs.

<good morning hugs everyone>
<ruffles hair and feathers playfully of the hug-averse people too>

I have a bad feeling that's exactly the case, it is with mine so far.
Every game I've tried to import from the installer has re-downloaded.

Yeah it seems like the games need to be put in some kind of galaxy format so everything is downloaded again...

But completely? Because i had similar problems (with the alpha) but i always thought galaxy only redownloaded parts of it...

Yes, that's just about how much space my library takes up with extras and English-based Windows installers.
882 to be exact.

I'd say so. But they're working to improve things. I wouldn't be surprised if the updates start coming out fairly quickly.

Me neither. Would be nice. And hopefully they stop overriding Emperor's Tomb german version with the english one (it happened twice in the alpha -.-)...

Which again means double downloads if we want to keep a standalone as a backup. :-(
OR, on newer purchases, we'll download the installer and have to 'import' from there.
Most people will use it like the Steam client and not keep a backup.
Great for newbies but sucks to be us;)

Yeah but destro (one of the gog blues) said they are still working on this stuff and there would be changes. So hopefully they'll implement better ways.

Uh uh. No way. Even at top speed for my connection, that would be 441 hours, doing nothing else that uses bandwidth during the redownload.
