Nope, Carmageddon's 2 graphics were awesome for me. The main goal anyway was not see their face (you couldn't even do that on the first one), it was to MAIM people and decapitate (or to destroy cars with more style). The only thing i hated about carmageddon 2 was the Desert maps and the Silo map.

Those 3d pedestrians didn't splash and explode like the sprite ones.

I don't think you've thought that through. How would that help them make a new Carmageddon game?

Well. They are asking for money. If they offer their games here they would get money from them instead of just holding their rights.

I think I'll start off with the 25 buck tier. I like the idea that developers can now fund their games without the constraints of a publisher like EA.

I'm willing to be just about anything that they don't won the rights to those games. At this point those rights are almost certainly owned by the publisher. Especially given how early this game was made in the existence of the studio. It's not unusual for that to happen.

EDIT: I think I misread you originally. They most likely only have rights to make a new game, not sell the old ones.

I stand corrected. I wonder if they know about us. Perhaps I'll pledge in seeing as I am interested in having the game and PM them the suggestion that some of us would love to buy the older releases.

I think they've seen how easy it is to gather the money on kickstarter with known brand, so they jumped in.

Looks like every game that is not coming from EA Acti or Ubi will be kickstarted now. The good thing is, they want only $400,000, so probably it's gonna be shit like new Flatout or something similar.

I'm not sure if that's going to be the case with this one. But there's definitely a hype bubble building. Not a true bubble, but at some point it's going to burst and much of the interest will dwindle.

What is to be expected, we will probably see more "we need MOAR money" kickstarters soon, for many games that have "succesfull" kickstarters already.

Costs are almost always higher than originally expected. (especially with inflation)

IIRC, they were looking for a publisher in the first place.
They didnt get one (or they didnt like the deals the pubs were trying to make), so they self funded.
Their money ran out, and they needed more to finish the game.
