Strijkbout: I hear ya, this doesn't bode well for Reincarnation, the updates given so far haven't shown a lot of progress, mostly that they were making iPhone and Android versions of the original.
On the other hand I'll wait and see if the game will be worth it, if it turns out to be good then I don't care that it took longer and as for the DLC's, if they are additions like the Splat Pack for the original Carmageddon, then it is fine by me and will gladly get it.
Don't know if I'm going to participate in the early access though.
No, not really. The latest updates are more centered to what Reincarnation will have than original Carma on iphone and android.

As for the decision to give all future DLCs to Kickstarter Backers for free, it's a pretty awesome move, but i didn't think their last move was BS. In fact i don't know how you can judge that when :
a) the new game hasn't shipped yet
and
b) You don't know the contents of the DLCs.
Just saw that Carmageddon Reincarnation is coming out on Steam Early Access on March 27.

Also, damage tech video.

That's an awesome damage tech video.
It certainly exceeded my expectations about the damage spectrum of C:R.
And reading this :

“It’s brilliant to see our demonic baby rise screaming from the grave,” said Patrick Buckland, co-founder and CEO of Stainless Games and creative genius behind Carmageddon, “This time we could finally do the stuff that we wanted to do 17 years ago. More blood was the main thing. Rivers of livers – that’s what we wanted. Being publisher as well as developer means we get to be stupid. Properly, professionally stupid. And this game is stupider than Jupiter. I mean really silly – but in a good way. Nobody else makes games that make you cry with laughter – but we do. And did I mention the livers?"

I just wanna hug the guys and upgrade my pledge to the $150 tier. But i can't... aaaaah man!
Backers should be receiving alpha access on Steam through Humble Bundle now.

The system requirements are a bit high for now, but should become more manageable as the code gets polished and optimized:

Minimum:
OS: Win 7 64-bit
Processor: Intel i3-3240 (3.4GHz) or equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: 2Gb DirectX 11 (AMD HD 7800 series or equivalent)
DirectX: Version 11
Hard Drive: 4 GB available space
It runs better than I expected (30-60FPS on a i7@3.5Ghz, GeForce 660Ti), but it crashed when I finished the race and tried to go back to the main menu.

Sweet, I can't wait.
Good news and bad news.

Good news, Carmageddon: Reincarnation is being released on April 23.

Bad news, it's only the Windows version and only on Steam.

What about the DRM-free version and other platforms? Stainless will only say that they will follow "some time after." :/

Oh well. It gives me time to play the first two games.

Yeah, would have been nice to know that the DRM-free version was an afterthought... Maybe I just didn't follow the project closely enough.

Harumph. I thought that whole GOG-deal with the original via their KS meant it was coming here as well on launch. :(

Until GOG gets Galaxy up to speed it makes sense the way they're doing it. They're not a huge company and multiple releases and fixing the problems across every platform is unrealistic to the point of being ludicrous.

All in all the game is shaping up well. There are definitely problems with the load times and stability, but those are precisely the kind of problems you'd expect at this point.

How...usual, unfortunately - Win+Steam - is "norm" last years. And yeah, ofc they will release it DRM-free...later, when main sale will be squeezed. When most of possible players already purchased\pirated game to resell it drm-free is only option.

As did I, the tier I bought was named "I'm AGOG".
