I would gather my family and trusted ones and head up to my grandfathers in a secluded area where we could hunt and fish for food and grow crops it's away from people so fewer walkers to worry about. We would need to figure out power and water but other than that there are places to hide from people and walkers and we would have guns to protect ourselves along with some melee weapons for silent kills.

Use potent flashlights on the zombies.

I would gather with my friends in the village we're actually building and live there, each one has a skill to help on every day tasks, from making food to fighting

1. always search and collect resources.
2. monitor your environment. Make a map for hiding places and possible enemy locations.
3. find someone you can trust and bond with others who have the same values as you.
4. survive by any means, collect weapons and learn to use your body as a weapon, for anything will happen in the world of The Walking Dead. :)

I'd climb up on a roof and eat a large can of pudding.

scuba dive to an underwater cave and make that my lair, as I've never seen a zombie swim or dive.

I would learn how to grow my own food and eat that alone in my room.

I would find the tallest, easiest to defend buidling and make a safehouse in the top floor. That would give me a lookout point of the area to avoid surprises. I would barricade and put traps to make it difficult to get to the upper part of the building and put a zipline from the top in case of emergency.
Scavenge for food and resources during the day and get back to safety before sunset.
Get an idea of the surroundings while exploring and realise when it´s a good time to move on if resources are scarce or it becomes dangerous.
Always have a plan B.
