Syphon72: Yes, the 2 hour limit before for a refund and the non-existent customer support is so great. Big company like Steam should be so much better with their customer support. I remember buying games that were completely broken and steam would not even refund me back in the day.

paladin181: Yeah.. their service isn't like that now. 2 hours in game (and two weeks overall) is for automatic refunds, you can still apply for and receive refunds beyond the two hour window on a case by case basis.
I requested a refund once and it went through within a few hours, no questions asked. At this point in time that's pretty damn good. With inflation the way it is, wallet funds are worthless, unless you're looking to do GOG a favor.

I voted B, as did the majority.

Re: the new title. Games are being censored for Russians through GOG, just like Taiwanese games are censored by China through GOG. Unless you're somehow biased for one and against one...

Ditch this fail of a dead thread and apply here instead: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site#search=boycott

Your vote for B was already recorded, from the PM you sent me on 3/8.

That is incorrect - the result of the vote on the deadline that was originally announced was a majority in favor of A.

I've never been big on boycotting but I think I'm going to go back to my roots with gog & only buy drm free good Old games that really interest me.

I'm one of the early gogers & even as they branched out, I continued with that support mentality the early goodwill built up, frequently re-buying games that I own elsewhere just to support them which is why I (apparently) have 1331 games.

Gog just doesn't deserve that kind of support anymore. Everything that endeared me to gog in the early days is dead, even worse, they continually lie about it or try to act innocent whenever there's significant backlash; taking the community for fools over again and again.

The company is clearly mismanaged as well, all this time & expansion yet gog cannot conjure a decent profit curve; that's alarming.

Wish I had experience like this when I asked for money back and not steam wallet.

I tried and never work for me. Not saying your lying just had different experience steam. On side note steam is my go to for MP games.

Boycotting DRM sounds good! and game censorship can be mostly overridden with patches.
Good luck with boycotting DRM in all game stores!

but with live service and games getting patched every day it's rather difficult to remain with the same game for years to try to fix it yourself is a nightmare and inconvenient without tools like DOSBox or VirtualBox. Maybe for OpenTTD for example since you can legally modify it. DRM kind of forces us to buy the newest toys the newest things because when it comes to hardware, for example, we can't stay idle on the same hardware for 10-20 years we have to upgrade, everything has an expiration date because we have an expiration date.

Does anyone here know anything about running windows in a virtual machine?

From your question I would assume you're running some Linux distro.
Install virtualBox or similar, like Qemu (Debian has it's own VM manager) and install Windows on a VM. Very easy really, just like that.
The hard side is getting 3D acceleration, it's possible with dual or single GPU setups. A single GPU is harder and is more of a hack.

That said, is probably better to open your own thread about the subject, not only to not "polute" this thread but also to get more help.

Is there a website you'd recommend for this sort of subject?

Pretty much everything seems to be going to hell right now, not just GOG. For right now, Steam is better for me.

VMWare lets you install any version of windows you want. Have multiple os'es and keep them seperated, just click on which one you want to run after you install them. Even supports backup, so you can go back to a clean os or after installing what you want.
Best tool out there for multiple os'es w/o having to change the one you are running.

This "boycott" is a perfect example of "making the perfect the enemy of the good".

If there is a list of opposition to the boycott, put me on it.

Not really.
It's actually a perfect example of how you shouldn't cross a line once it's drawn in the sand then spit in the guys face.
