Yeah, I'm going to import coffee from the Netherlands. That's stuff's potent! Seriously though, being that it's my favorite game of all time I will definitely like to know how it works on a virtual system. I too have my original discs laying around somewhere.

Cool stuff! It's really something I think that deserves its own thread. I'd really like to see if I can get SC3000 running in a virtual system and I'll post the results / ask questions in the thread.

So Blade Runner is playable? Great! Time to dig up my old discs then. You say it's still on your playlist? If you can tear yourself away from all the emulation you've been doing seemingly nonstop since yesterday afternoon, then consider giving it a go :) It's not very long or difficult and can easily be finished in a weekend by only playing in short bursts.

bladerunner is playable
the native resolution is a bit small but if you set the guest to full screen mode it should be just fine
( its like stepping back in to a time machine oddly enough )

my settings for my virtual machines are
1.9 gig of ram
a 512 mb video card
with the main windows resolution being 1024x768
3D graphics accelerated
vmware addition installed
windows xp home edition sp1 upgraded to sp2

your mileage may vary

and sadly i have so many games to play
i walked away with 20 games during the last steam sale including several resi evils

i dont have sim city 3000 though just 4

Well there you are. It would use a GOG installer, that aside there is one someone made for installing the disc version too. Lots of old games use 16 bit installers that don't run on modern OS's, while the games themselves are just fine. This is notthing special.

An old big boxed version lurks in my wardrobe. The game was ground-breaking in many ways, expanding on voxel technology to not only produce 3D characters without the use of a 3D accelerator, but make the game feel smoother than a replicant’s arse. Visually it still holds up.

And that’s not even getting into the gameplay and atmosphere. There’s a moment where Ray steps onto his cramped apartment balcony with the sound of perpetual rain beating down around him, and then the Blade Runner Blues begins playing. This game absolutely nails it. I’ve always thought it deserved a bigger place in gaming history, but by 1997 the point & click adventure genre that had once ruled the world was going out of fashion. Westwood weren’t just ‘that Command and Conquer developer’, they had major talent, and Bladerunner stands tall as one of the best movie-based games.

A replicant's arse was never shown in the movie and wasn't described in the book either. :P They could all be hairy.
The game had terrific atmosphere. Probably one of the best I've encountered in a game.

That's right. They also did Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore, Legend of Kyrandia, Dune... FANTASTIC games.
