LA Noire maybe... and the last one that I`ve playing is MaZM Jekyll & Hyde from Growing Seeds Studio. Normally i can play the games of Sherlock Holmes easily. Thankfull for de oportunity.
Persona 4 Golden had a nice criminal case... You really had to think who the real culprit that was...If you did not find him or meet the requirements then you get a bad ending.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is the first thing that came to my mind. It is not exactly a classic detective case but I really enjoyed uncovering the mystery.

Matchstickman: Discworld: Noir
Not in, I wanted to make a post about Discworld Noir but I can't possibly top this. It's an amazing game and everyone should p̶i̶r̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d play it.
I thoroughly enjoyed solving murder mysteries in Assassin's Creed: Unity. Simple, and yet very satisfying puzzles :) Running around in medieval Paris is a huge bonus :D
I would say Gabriel Knight: Sins of the fathers. The voodoo aspect haunted me for years when i first played it as a kid, and it's still one of the best stories in a videogame.
In my opinion Heavy Rain had the most memorable criminal case. Origami Killer was a great name for an antagonist and the narrative structure kept me playing and interested in the story. Definitly my favourite Quantic Dream game.
Heavy Rain and the Origami Killer for sure!
+1 for heavy rain!
It may not sound very memorable but somehow the only thing that comes to my mind is the investigation of the missing supplies with Lee and Duck in Telltales "The Walking Dead" (Season 1) ...
The most enjoyable moments were discovering the secret of The Monkey Island.
The case in The Norwood Suite, who is the killer, trully atmospheric and misterious.
GRIM FANDANGO,
takes the price as the most memorable criminal case I´ve ever solved in a video game.

I bought the game back in 1998, and was entertained all the way through.

I just loved the Art Deco design and the film noir style.
I also had the feeling that the developers had not just thrown some random stuff into the game, but everything had a meaning. E.g. the main character is named Manny Calavera and calavera being Spanish for 'skull'.
Every act takes place the 2. November, the day of the dead in Mexico. Most of the dialogue is "spanglish", a mix between spanish and english.

All that mixed with a great soundtrack, good voice cast and lots and lots of humor.

Just thinking back on the game this way, makes me want to take another trip to the "Land of the Dead", Grim-Fandango-style ;-D

Needless to say, GOG has the game in their collection if you should feel like playing it.

Lego City Undercover (Don't ask).
The most memorable criminal case I ever stumbled upon in a video game is Arcanum's Half-Ogre Conspiracy quest.

The best (or worst, depending on who you ask) part about this case is that technically you cannot solve it.

It's a vast, X-Files-type government conspiracy that presents a stark contrast to the rest of the game. Sure, Arcanum was always about race relations and exploring similar urban (or steampunk, I guess) fantasy tropes, but these usually played second fiddle to classic CRPG mechanics and power fantasies such as having your actions shape the destinies of entire countries.

That is, until the Half-Ogre Conspiracy. Here, you learn a very uncommon videogame lesson. Namely that, no matter how powerful or clever you are, there are some problems that you cannot solve, regardless of how hard you try.

The entire case also took a much darker turn than I originally expected, dealing with some very disconcerting themes (which I will not spoil here), but is still well-hidden enough that most players have very little chance of stumbling upon it (though its existence is hinted throughout the game).

But even if we disregard all of these themes and meta-narrative implications, it's still a great case - leading you from one revelation to the next. The fact that it is so thought-provoking and different than anything else in the game is just an added bonus.
