Definitely the murders in Act 2 in Witcher 2, plus all the noir references including those of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlow. Excellent design, very easy to miss evidence and clues, leading to different conclusions where the player is none the wiser. Exactly what one wants from a detective case in a video game.
Finding out whos Haruto's father, and why his mom was a victim of a hit & run in Yakuza 6
The murder of Christopher and his gargoyle assistant, Inamo in Ultima VII
The grand conspiracy of the stolen Number 9 Express tickets in Grim Fandango.
I loved playing through Heavy Rain and trying to figure out who the killer was.
Not sure if this counts, but old school point and click games where the worst. Eveytime I hit a wall and was stuck for hours and finaly finding it has serveral places in my mind. But if I have to say the most memorable one is. It would be when I discovred that there was another booth in the second act in Grim fandingo. Made me soo mad at myself.

However more to the point of the topic.... I do love Beyond good & evil. Or any other Conspiry like Deus Ex.
The whole of Thimbleweed Park.

"Carnal sins" in witcher 3!
I really wanted to find out who was responsible for the dead body pixelating under the bridge, but in a town like Thimbleweed Park this was the least of my problems.
Heavy Rain - I didn't expect that this particular person was the Origami-Killer. Still blows my mind.
The whole plot of Spycraft - The Great Game where you try to find out who assassinated the russian presidency candidate.
Serial killer in Baldur's Gate II.
Good morning, afternoon and night to everyone . Hope you all are OK and wish you the best for the still uncertain and incoming times.

Ah. In my case, they might not be the most known or memorable moments in gaming history, however, regarding to solving criminal cases and despite of my memory joking with myself again and forbidding me to give another example, it only came to my mind the old Flash games. In particular and special the one's from Scooby Doo. Technically they aren't the most "criminal" ones, but they indeed involved catching criminals and I remember I spent lots of downfalls playing and having fun with them even thought I didn't always catch the point of what to do next. Point and click or not, they were pretty decent experiences and, as other old gems from the past — like the Mortimer Becket franchise or Natalie Brooks (which involved resolving cases) —, they sticked to my heart in spite of the years going by.

. . .

EDIT: Pardon. I didn't want to bother anyone so, in the case my previous text doesn't count as a "participation" — I got nervous as time went by and reading other contestants (whose texts are great indeed) —, I would like to mention in this edit the hole experience of Night in the Woods. I was able to play it the last year (for an accesible price) and, when "that" happen (trying to avoid spoilers), we are given the task of solving that case; it was an unforgetabble story at whole. I enjoyed it, and this "case" is the specific mention that I add in this post. Just that. I'm sorry (unu).

. . .

That's the end of my participation. Wishing the best to everyone (again) and ignoring the result, I want to close this post congradulating to ZA/UM for releasing one of the most critically acclaimed and genuine games of 2019. Congratulations! It would be a pleasure if one day I get to play it, just hoping at the last that the potato computer of the house can run it.

Probably a Sam & Max pixel case ;) ... although I wouldn't rule out a Neverwinter Nights investigation, complete with trial.
