Man I get happy whenever games firstly describe themselves as single-player games.
It looks great.
And Update 8 is live with great new add-ons to buy. Pdf Source Books for the Board Game with alot of background info about the universe of Battletech.

Stage 3 is reached: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/webeharebrained/battletech/description

The next 2 options sound really nice, a configurable Dropship as homebase and legendary mechs and mechwarriors.
Ah, so excited they hit stage 3. The expanded merc campaign is REALLY what I wanted. Everything from here on out is icing on the cake for me.

Too bad we'll have to wait another 18 months to see it! I'm impatient, but extremely glad this kickstarter's been so successful.
New digital pledge level: Order of Valhalla
And more exclusives, guess they really want to push for that PVP goal.
Definitely on track to score Legendary Mechs, but PVP is still looking unlkely. But who knows what the final push will bring?

Somehow for me it looks the same, but I would like the PVP mode, too, if it were comparable to the board game.
Well Single player suffer from "balancing" acts in multi player, so I hope they don't hit PVP.

How should it when you can only play multiplayer in the Arena and Singleplayer is a campaign outside? As comments go its not that far from the boardgame, just with extended rules.

I can only tell from my experience with past games. where they wave their nerf stick till current strategy and build is not viable and you have to start from scratch again.

In starcraft 2, the awesome and unique Mothership get nerf over and over and finally become the old arbiter.

In titan quest, spirit ternion attack get nerf and have to change the build

Diablo 3 Monk Wizard, Demon Hunter get nerfed that current strategy is not viable anymore, infuriating players that have to start from scratch.

Dawn of War, necron resurrection got nerfed when once I can resurrect to unit limit 35, the maximum resurrection limit is 24 now. foiling my previous strategy of spam free necron warriors and resurrect and overwhelm.

Because Single Player is also affected by these nerf, all the nerf is quite annoying

In Battletech, you have a max of four Battlemechs and the enemy, too. There are no different units which the enemy can`t have. It will be comparable to the board game and turn based.
In PVP you will only play in an area where you don`t go in PVM and every player steer a mech, too.
In Diablo and Starcraft and others, there are lots of possibilities for different setups and it always was that one skill or one race got a bit overpowered and needed to be attuned, happened in D2 alot. So people build Barb vs Barb or Barb s Caster and so on ...
Here you have some piloting and weapon skill and mech which probably gets a battle value and you battle against others with THE SAME possibilities as you. You can just use a mech and weapons as you like, so only thing that could get nerfed are weapons that are overpowered, but the BT rules are quite balanced here.

Well PVP balancing still affect Single Gameplay so your strategies / build suddenly become lackluster. You have the frustration of starting all over again, no matter the balancing is due to overpowered.

After all the goal of games like this is to drive your mecha as powerful as possible, and you would not appreciate your hard work suddenly went down the drain.

You didnt play the board game, did you? This is "multiplayer" and the computer game is based on it.
The mechs will most likely be the same and get a rating acording to their "power". In board game you usually play two parties with same battle value or sometimes the same tonnage and this will probably be the same here. Solaris had different tournaments for light, medium and heavy mechs.

There will not be one overpowered skill or equipment that will have to be attuned. There is usually not tooo much freedom in building in the timeframe where the story plays, although they wanted to add some finetuning.
In the games you mentioned you just play one player against another and you can wear what you want and skill what you want regardless what the different values are. For example without best gear you nearly dont have a chance in Diablo 2.

Well we've got the customisable home base so I'm contented now. Whatever else they get is just making this project more financially buoyed as far as I'm concerned.
