To be fair though this looks like a game I actually want to get a VR Headset to play with.

Half Life: Alyx folks. A Prequel to the events of Half Life 2 it seems, as in the few years before Gorden enters the picture of Post-Seven Hour War Earth.

City 17 never looked better.

VR bullshit.
But then I had headaches even from the "regular" HL2 game. xD
Overrated game series, only the first HL is a true masterpiece.
Unless it’s streaming only I really couldn’t care any less Than I do. Steam, nah, vr nah, half life other than 1 nah, valve nah.

I guess I'll just watch it like a movie on YouTube when it comes out.

Why are devs pushing VR? Is it really catching on? I hate it. Headache inducing and limited gameplay.

There seems to be this push from developers and movie makers to give people things they don't want.
I don't know what to make of this. Valve isn't going to single-handedly make VR the more enticing and affordable option with this title, even though the press is going to eat it up because they always do when Valve decides to step out of their cryostasis chamber for a minute and actually release something for a change.
This is the closest we will get to Half Life 3, i mean Half Life 3D :). Just kidding. Looks pretty good, but the VR requirement is kind of a bummer. Cheers

imo VR is a bad idea, it will be used as an argument that games are training simulators for future mass shooters.
Don't have any interest in the game, liked the original Half-Life, but have never played Half-Life 2, and probably won't, since it seems to have quite a mixed reputation.

Because most of these devs grew up with old sci fi movies and television that features Virtual Reality and they want to make it a real thing because they thought it was cool.

Take it from me, Half-Life 2 is a good game. Up there with the PC FPS greats.

Sounds like a last big effort to push VR popularity to me.

Anyway, I don't care, VR and 3D (movies) both give me a headache. (To me) this is more like an exclusive than the whole Epic thing.
Looks more like "Half Life: Rayman". Or in other words: Why is it that you never have any arms in VR games? Just two floating hands? I don't get it :/

True. I loved the first Half Life and was excited when they announced Half Life 2. But... it sucks! I didn't get the story (City 17? Combine? What's that got to do with Half Life?), I hate aim-assist on PC (if I shoot at a red barrel next to three enemies, I want to hit the red barrel and not one of the enemies that I'm not aiming at) and I quit the game after I realized that every single level is just a playground where you have to use the newest idea of the devs (gravity gun, that weird boat).

Half Life 2 was a really bad game. It had nothing to do with the first Half Life and sucked as a shooter. I didn't like the "Gordon, why don't you tell us what you think about..." humor either. That Alyx character was way too happy to fit the setting.

VR is one of those things that are cool in the movies, but don't work as well in real life.

Funniest comment 2019 nominee. HL2 was a less than average shooter, with one gimmick gun, no link to the actual good game in the series, and less soul than Gabe!
Thanks for making me laugh though.

Your speaking to someone who still thinks Half Life 1 is the better game regardless you fool.

Not sure I follow you? Anyways, hl1 was better, it had some novelty for its time, some interesting gunplay, and the ai was a bit better than other games (the marines chucking grenades down for instance). Also it had the memorable G man. Otherwise it was pretty average, and really marred by the dreadful mario platforming in the alien world. Hl2 had very little to offer over other games available at the time, from far better gunplay in painkiller (for example), or horror in doom3, not to mention far cry which was far better in every respect but also had the ending failure with the annoying mutant gorillas. So it was average, had a gimmick, but nothing to offer over better games in the series, and released around the time. Funny just checked it on steam, 10/10 there funnily enough...

Can you at least decide if HL was an innovative game or an average?
