I can understand a company trying something new to either to re-invigorate a series and hopefully get some new fan support (a la Star Trek). But when you change this series as much as they have it becomes clear that Beth. is using the Fallout name to help sales but the game could have been called post-apocalyptic anything. (kind of reminds me of XBL and Wing Commander)
Not a bad game per se just not a true Fallout game. IMO
"I tried this game because of all the good reviews it received. I then proceeded to download it. In tried it once and stopped playing after thirty seconds."
Thirty-seconds? Really?

AVATAR:/_t2 #Q&_^Q&Q#USERNAME:Botkilla#Q&_^Q&Q#GROUP:4Go straight to Fallout 3, as it has elements of an FPS in it.

It is also has elements of bad game in it... Wait, scratch that, it is a bad game... :D
I think Fallout 3 was an attempt to cater a new generation as well as an attempt to keep old fans. However most old fans were off-put by the Real time FPS combat quite understandable. Also Fallout 3 did not seem as in depth as the original Fallout games. I believe that titles should stick to their roots, I agree with the statement that Bethesda could've created their own Elder Scroll Post-Apoc game if they really wanted to.
Note: other than the Bethesda flavoring of the skill system, major changes was planned for the Van Buren Fallout 3 as well.
Meh the Fallout 3 debates needs to go away and the butthurt fanbois need to get over it. I liked all three games and honestly never expected Fallout 3 to be exactly like Fallout 2. In fact I think Bethesda did a good job with Fallout 3 and it felt more fleshed out then Oblivion and I loved Oblivion though it was a major letdown after Morrowind even if the scenery was beautiful. I think people just need to get over the fact Interplay is dead and deserves to be at least you got a another game for the series because Bethesda liked the world otherwise it would have never likely been touched again.

indeed this is an old tiring argument that needs to stop at some point. Personally i consider Fallout 3 utterly bad compared to the other two but because there are a lot of people that enjoyed it does not make it necessarily true.
i cannot expect everyone to agree with me as it is impossible.

razvan252: oblivion = Fallout 3 without a nuclear war!

JudasIscariot: Fallout 3 = Oblivion without an emperor!

You people have no idea how annoyingly nerdy this is getting...

sk8ing667: thing that made me most angry about fallout 3. Ghouls. They made them into something bad when they are just people.

Agreed, I have seen this probably on almost every site I have visited and the same points are brought up time and time again. I feel it is best just to agree to disagree everyone has their opinions and they are quite entitled to them. No need to clog the forums with it.

Petrell: I like my RPG's 2D, turn based and isometric.
I would not recommend Fallout 3 to anyone who likes CRPG's.
I wouldn't recommend Fallout 3 to anyone who isn't a complete tool.
low rated
Fallout 3. Game of the Year. Deal with it.
It's not that Bethesda ruined anything; it's that they re-marketed something that you all held sacred. You loved being part of some niche group. It made you feel special. You hate that Fallout as a series can no longer be an active part of your nerd cred.
Don't point the blame at Bethesda for trying to do right by all the fans and newcomers, blame yourselves for being condescending, bitter fanboys.

Yes. Fallouts were good. Really good. We can still accept good things, It is just that as a game in of itsself, Fallout 3 was...bad. Bad characters, bad voice acting, bad dialog, bad gameplay, bad combat, pointless skill system.
Don't bring up this "nerd cred" crap because that pisses me off. I don't give a flying shit what people care about me. I'm not a "fanboy" for liking the originals more, I like the originals more because they were, in essence, better games.

I played Fallout 3 before I even touched the original Fallouts. Fallout 3 was barely an acceptable game before that, but when compared to the original games, it's downright horrible.
Oblivion also got GotY awards, but was also shit. I think it says more about the market and the products offered than it says about the overall quality of the games being marketed.
Same as Luckmann, I played Fallout 3 before the originals and still hated it. It is barely passable even with mods.
