I have BOX CD-ROM version of WC4 so I'd like to buy DVD version from GOG. :-)

I wouldn't get my hopes up on this one. I doubt GOG will be able to release the DVD version--it was done under license by a separate company (Daylight Productions) and in its native form it requires a particular type of decoder board... so in order to release it they'd need to include a fan-made patch, which doesn't seem like something GOG generally does.

But have no fear, we'll have a DVD upgrade patch at WCNews.com if and when they release Wing Commander IV!

That's not entirely true, they've used third party programs before... There's the awesomeness of their Music solution for Total Annihilation, and every part in the Heroes Chronicles uses a previously known cracked EXE.

I'm not gonna hold my breath for the DVD/MPEG2 version of the game, but it is a possibility. And as you said, either way CIC has us covered =D

As mentioned, if you have the CD-ROM version of Wing Commander IV then you can upgrade it to the DVD version by using a patch available at wcnews.

I did this, but I actually found the process of getting it to work quite difficult - I succeeded in the end, though! I would still much prefer GOG to make our lives easier and just release the DVD version here.

We will put out an updated installer when GOG releases Wing 4 that should patch it to the DVD version with ease.

I meant the REAL DVD version.
The one with the DVD quality movies.

I would pay 30 bux for that version.

If you go to the WCnews.com website and look in their files section, you'll see that they have the MPEG2 video files from the DVD version, so they really can patch up to the real DVD version

yes!! That would be the DEFINITIVE version...

also, i think that the GOG release of Gabriel Knight 2 uses the fanmade deinterlaced patch, and also Planescape has a crack.

If GOG managed to get out WC3 and/or WC4 running decently - I might even buy a joystick again.

I have both (in 2 versions) and an older computer to run them on, but it's not working quite right :( - so hope GOG will bring it into their game list.

Oh yes, i would LOVE to have WC3 and WC4 come to GOG.com...... that would be so awesome.
