Look your issue with TAU and Gamma is your issue, I only know what I have witnessed and been told I cannot tell you more then what you see there all I know is that Thaldren issued false or exaggerated reports of malware to github and had it taken down, which he claimed lied in the area of 30+ detections but with his knowledge of programming it would easy for him to modify a file here or a file there to fake such detections via virustotal esp since the patch makes use of DLL injection which many AV's flag falsely if you feel nervous about it yourself I sent my copy of the patch and the copy thats on discord and on the archive link to virustotal and only 2 detections where made but they are from small AV engines and target the CNCDDRAW config exe and dll which are completely safe. I have used gamma's archive for two or so years without issue or problem the only reason why I suggested discord is at the time it is the only remaining place to grab the patch but I have a Internet Archive grab of the patch for OTA at least I can now provide which is provided in response to Lucian in case you need your own copy TTBE or if you want to fact check my virustotal feel free to do so.

I thought all mods already included (and use as base) the Unofficial Patch? What would be a "patch" for the original campaign? Unofficial Patch can be used for the original or for the TADR version of TA, but it doesn't directly patch the campaign but the whole game I think. What happens is that you can use a Modded version to play the campaign with that Mod's version, but that's different than a "campaign patch". Unless there's anything I've not heard of.

(Just making it clear and sure some Mods aren't being pushed as "Patchs" to the original campaign - they are different versions/games altogether, let's untwist that talk.)

I have no idea. I just remember seeing versions of that github patch for the various TA mods before it was taken down.

I remember the phase when mods were pushed down everyone's throat (using the then recent addition of TA to Steam popularity for it too) to play down the fact a TAK BR was the current (and ultimately last) real Total Annihilation champion in the world, so it doesn't come as a surprise - that is, boycotting the Patch when used for original TA.

However, how and why is it so easy to get a Github page down based on false claims? This doesn't add up, they must have ran the check themselves and decided to remove it. Now if you're forwarding a different version than the one hosted in that github then that's something else entirely.

For point 1: from what I know Thaldren had some issue recently in TA ESC due to something he got mad at wotan and at gamma for a bunch of stuff and started a propaganda war with Gamma thats all I know and saw.

For point 2: Github will take stuff down if its accused of being malware, I had a OXC mod taken down similarly because I had a fight with a modder despite mods for openxcom being YAML text files but thats the extent of my knowledge and experience about that.

I am right now just trying to keep TA alive, but I hear CNCDDRAW might work better the Unofficial Patch but I havent tried that yet.
