edpfister: I was getting the problem "Error writing file" for the English voice overs so I tried to delete the file from C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads and erased all the entries in the registry location specified (except default). The error went away but unfortunately now the English voiceovers are missing from the list of downloadable items. What do I do now?

I have the GOG version.
Make copies of your saves and setting files (not sure even if that's neccessary) and reinstall?

Exactly what am I suppose to do ? What is the value of HKEY_CURRENT_USER ?

I have no directory under login_user\Software
-
do I need to create this directory ?

(this is win 7 64 bit)
They are talking about the registry. If you aren't sure what that is you probably shouldn't mess with it until you know what you are doing though. You can access it by typing "regedit" from Windows Run (Start->Run usually).
I can see the polish DLC's in the launcher and start the download just fine, but when it finishes it just says "verifying" then nothing happens for a while and then it starts over from the beginning. Is there any fix for this or some other place to download the pack?
Seriously getting tired of the english version... "Wiedźmin" sounds so much more badass than "witcher". :)

edit: I'm gonna try downloading it while running the launcher as admin, will report back if that solves it.

I just tried that. Doesn't help.

If you had already downloaded them prior to the patch, then it sounds like the same problem people who mistakenly thought they had to download the English sounds and subtitles had. ie: They're already installed. For instance, after the patch, if I click on "Downloadable Content", it looks like the Polish stuff isn't installed (I'd already installed it a week ago). But, it is. I could have easily thought it wasn't, and mistakenly tried to re-download it though.

If you've never downloaded them before, then I don't know what to tell you.

Actually, the best line in the whole thing is when you're in an arena fight along side someone else, and you are announced as: <guy's name> from.. somewhere, and Geralt of Rivia.... Witchaaa...

It just sounds perfectly awesome the way he threw it in there as an after thought.

Yup you're right, it didn't help at all. :(
And the pack is not already downloaded, at least it does not show up in the dropdown box in the options. Hmm... guess I'll have to wait with the polish dubs until my second playthrough, it's a shame though, the polish voices make the world feel so much more believeable, american english not so much >.<
Was having the same issue, where it downloads, verifies, and starts over. I'm patched up now, and tried again with the same results. I cleared my reg section, loaded up, and only the two Polish patches appear in the list. Great. Now I'm downloading again (and my wife is about to complain about our connection again...)

Crossing fingers..

Downloaded....

Verifying... at the 99% mark.. and um.. HEY downloading again!

That's the last time I'm downloading 860 megs until someone says they are aware of this specific problem and have either a direct download or a real fix. This sucks :(
Having the same problem. Polish VO and subs keep downloading over and over. I' m post v1.1 and the game has been reinstalled. Hopefully we'll get a stand alone update for this soon. I've bypassed the launcher when I play. Don't want to be tempted to use it. Just too many issues with it.
I had the same problem with the polish voice-over pack downloading again and again. I managed to come up with a work around solution:

1) Let the launcher download the voice-over pack.
2) When the launcher tries to verify the downloaded pack, close the launcher.
3) Now the downloaded pl0.w2speech file should be in your \My Documents\Witcher 2\Downloaded\ folder. Copy that file to \The Witcher 2\CookedPC\ folder (where the en0.w2speech file is for those with english voice-overs installed).
4) Choose polish voice-overs from the configurator.

This worked for me and I can't see why there should be any problems. It's not as if the verifying of the voice-over pack is absolutely necessary, but what do I know...

Haha I was just about to try this but it turns out they've fixed the problem now, at least the polish text worked fine (tried with that just cause it's much smaller). Will see if I have the same luck with the voices now. :)

Edit: It worked! I hope it won't feel too wierd now that I've been playing in english for a while. :)
