The first four games work fine on DOSBox as they are (though you need a rather fast processor to play UAKM and Pandora on high details - they chugged bad on my old Pentium 4). I'd buy them on GoG just for the slightest chance of Chance coming out, but I highly doubt the GoG versions would be an improvement over what I've got already.
But Overseer DVD always caused tons of problems, was a pain to get working (I had to disable music just to prevent the game from crashing), and had tons of bugs once it did. The CD version works fine out of the box, but the FMV quality is horrible.
A patched up version of Overseer DVD that you can run out of the box would be amazing. What will GoG be offering?
I don't think it will be the DVD version, since it needs the old DVDExpress program (or one similar) installed on your PC to work.
I got the DVD version working alright on my XP 1½ year ago just fine with only a few crashes here and there. But the sound and music and videos all ran great.
It's listed as a 2.3 gig release so I guess it's the regular cd-version.
The DVD version is basically the same except for the video being higher quality, so it should be possible for a team like gog to fix that. I too was hoping for that.
But I guess not.

When "Obscure" was still in "Upcoming" status, it's size was listed as 6.6 GB. Now that it has been released, it has gone down to 2.5 GB. So the size could be not that accurate.
And keep in mind that they could just re-encode the videos from the DVD version using the codecs we got today (the game is already 11 years old) and we would get smaller videos and still keep good quality, but it's up to them.
That's true.
They could even simply convert the dvd videos to the format used in the cd version of the game. Just in higher resolution. I think that would absoloutly be doable. except the dvd video is probably going to be in an unsegmented video stream, meaning the would have to manually split out all the right scenes. Would take a fairy snuff amount of work methinks.

Hoping the GOG folks read this: PLEASE let it be the high quality FMV, otherwise I'll just stick to my CD version. I also have the DVD but could never get it to run properly.
Yeah, if it's just the CD version, I don't think I could bypass my inner miser and spend $10 on a downgrade.
another vote for 'will absolutely buy if it's the DVD version', hope the GOGers notice :)
Agreed, the videos on the DVD version were of a superior quality, and should be included in this release of Overseer if possible.
Definitely agree on the DVD version being necessary. But I also remember having issues getting it to run properly, so perhaps they just gave up on it?
Never had the DVD version so I might as well give it a shot if it's the case.
i will definitely buy the DVD version of Overseer. I wont bother if its only the CD version that we get.

Actually if I remember correctly, the DVD mpeg2 video files are segmented out and even named the same as their CD smacker video counterparts. So I think it would be a great idea to re-encode them! The DVD version was always buggy even when you did get it working anyway, so basing GOG's download off the CD version but with higher-quality, non-interlaced videos would be awesome.

Either way, cd or dvd version, it's bound to work better than the original version in Vista lol.
It was a pain to make it work and still i can't play it with music on and i get ocasional crashes :|

I just hope it works. I've never played Overseer or Pandora. Are they any good? I've seen the pics, and it looks like they updated the "sets" and makeup effects of the characters.
