Yesterday I went back to the playthrough that I had undertaken in an effort to reproduce this bug. I had gotten stalled out on that playthrough when it turned out there wasn't actually any place to submerge in Hydroponics.
Anyway, I picked it back up, blasted through Ops, and made a beeline for the Rec deck pool, jumped in, and... everything was fine. lol.
At least we know the bug isn't a certainty for Mac users. For what it's worth, here is a save right before I jumped into the pool.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/2gd7oi My first playthrough crashed as soon as I submerged in the Rec deck pool. I actually thought that not being able to submerge was part of the gameplay. I don't know what's different this time through. I should note that I have played other WINE games in the interim. I'm not clear on how WINE is constructed, but I believe the WINE engine is built into each specific package(wrapper). However, if the WINE engine is system-wide, and not built into to each individual wrapper, then it's probable that the WINE engine on my system was updated when I installed another WINE game.
One other piece of evidence to consider is that I died when I jumped into the Rec deck pool on my original playthrough, but by the time I had reached the Rick, my saves were no longer corrupted, but then my save was subsequently re-corrupted at some point and I died again when submerging in the Body of the Many.
