voodoo47: yeah, that ultra rare invincible hybrid bug. too bad you don't have any saves, they would be worth gold.
What version of the game does this bug occur?
any, as far as I know. the enemy loses physics, and can only be killed by explosive (splash) damage. can be fixed instantly by quicksaving and quickloading. extremely rare, I think I have only encountered it twice or thrice during the last couple of years. seems to be repeatable if you have a hard save; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhxlvnMFVmQ&t=5m48s

I would literally pay money for such a save (I was not quick enough to get one from the author of that video, unfortunately).

So is the moral of this thread to not play the Mac version and stick to the Windows version?

Its great that you've been willing to fix peoples saves Voodoo47, that was might good of you!
the version is the same for both systems, but for some weird reason, this slippery watery bug only happens when the game is played on macs.

tdubose: Just encountered the same bug—bundle of saves here: sendspace.com/file/4pyqlp
how the heck did I miss that. here: sendspace.com/file/khm3hw
Hi! Same problem :(
Mac version, no mods, Body of the Many, second nerve thingy, can't dive underwater :)

I uploaded my save file here:
sendspace.com/file/imdxui

Thanks a lot for taking the time to fix this.
If you can tell us what we can do to fix it ourselves, it would be awesome, so we wouldn't have to bother you anymore :)
the process requires the user to set up the Shocked editor properly, something that might prove problematic under macos.

anyway, there is another ghost lurking in that save, as it crashes the editor when attempting to fix. there is a way around this, but it might take a while.

Thank you so much! It works! :)
This can be a bug in Wine (which is used in the Mac version). There's even a bug report on Wine Bugzilla (Bug 34674) connected with the problem. If you can provide any additional information that would help to remove this bug, you are welcome to do that there.
I was not able to replicate the issue under wine/lubuntu, so this might actually be mac specific, rather than wine specific.

Maybe you're right. Though ion 1 reports this bug on Linux as well: http://www.gog.com/forum/system_shock_2/system_shock_2_mac_cant_dive/post43

And link to the bug on Wine Bugzilla: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34674

I have had the exact same problem as the others above. If you can fix it then that would be great!

I'm fairly inept at anything vaguely technical, but I think this is my zipped save.

Woohoo! It works. Thank you so much. I've wanted to play this for years. Had a temporary horror that I'd be stuck right at the end. Now to finish off that damned AI...
