the medhypo might be a mod issue -try reapplying (restarting the game might fix it as well, but you will lose your progress). try assigning a hotkey to use medhypo and use that.

if you had crashes, zip shock2.log and crash.dmp, upload them to sendspace or similar and share the link.

Thanks for this awesome thread and the great mods. Was just one hour into the game before I decided to go "full-mod" and due to the fact that I use ADaoB I need to start a new game. No biggie.
Just as a heads-up to anyone using said mod (although it is clearly stated here and on the fansite): The med-hypo issue stems from ADaoB and cannot be rectified.
Looking forward for restarting tonight. Thanks again!

Thanks to you for all the thread! I already moded and prepared the whole game to re-play it.

I am using AdaOB and have no problem with the med hypo - If I had, I would be long dead ;) So it look like it is not 100% reproducible.

those who have patched up with ss2tool 5.0, installed ADaoB and started a new game should never run into this issue.

I have installed SS2 and have tried to run SSTool 5.0 (as an administrator) but the next button always stays grey after selecting my shock folder (where my shock2 exe is). What am I doing wrong?

Did you look through this thread or read all of first post? Are you installed in Program Files?

I will try to install somewhere else. I missed the thing about program files in the first post. Should always read the important stuff carefully!

=) Sorry if I came off snippy, was before my morning coffee. The same question has been asked a couple times in thread already, but I've asked my share of self-answerable questions aswell, so perhaps no room to talk.

Well thanks to your post I found my solution. :) Now I just need to install SHTUP and begin my first playthrough.

voodoo47: those are just upscaled versions of the originals - no benefit in using them, actually.
I'm the one who made the upscaled versions, and if you actually viewed them you would see there is a marked improvement. The videos weren't just changed in resolution, I went through them, upscaled them significantly, processed them to remove artifacts and other impurities, and downscaled them back to where they are now. You can notice the difference, and most people have said as such.

I still have the original upscaled versions (including a slightly larger and less compressed version), I'd be happy to recompile into a zip and post somewhere for people to obtain if the site they are trying to get it from is making it difficult.

Just to be clear, I only changed the 3 major cutscenes (CS1, CS2 & CS3), I didn't do any of the short ones.

If people go into their cutscenes folder inside their shock installation, you can play them. Take note that the credits cutscene is actually a higher resolution than the other cutscenes. (640x480) That was the size I upscaled the other cutscenes to for sake of continuity. (and let me say it was a pita to encode these because of the archaic codec the game uses.)

Anyway, if anyone has trouble getting the upgraded cutscenes, or would like me to upload the ones I have with slightly less video compression, just let me know and we can find some place for me to drop them.

any kind of reprocess means there will be degradation - detail lost, blurring etc. sorry, I just don't see the benefit.

but anyone is free to use what he/she sees fit, of course.

Perhaps you should actually look at them before judging.

The issue is that the manner in which video is upscaled within the game is inferior to actually creating an upscaled version outside the game. (thanks to the use of a 15 year old codec) You can see the difference by watching it. I wouldn't have posted these videos if the difference in quality was negligible. (and they wouldn't have been downloaded thousands of times either if that was true.)

It's not rocket science, your eyes will tell you whether there is a visual improvement or not. Perhaps you should try watching them first before judging.

fair enough, will do that.

Did you get the process down and can do it again for all videos, or would that be painful to get those too? (Sorry, a little OCD :P )

I'm sorta interested in this, the artifacts are a little distracting (on all but the updated cs2 obviously), but I didn't want to register on that other site just to check them out.
