Djindaar: I get the message that I am infected with Artemis (Trojan) Macafee then Quarentines it. After this I cannot apply the patch as the executable is not found.
I have AVG (full, paid for version) and, although it handles it differently, I think it may be regarding it similarly. After launching the patch program I got a pop-up message from AVG asking for me to allow or block something. I allowed it, and it seemed to confirm the allowance, but the patch program aborts with the message that Outcast's executable is not found. I can still, however, launch Outcast itself without any apparent problem. I did not bother to resume playing the game at that point, only checking that the game program itself launched ok.
I've re-downloaded the game program itself. I thought my version was up to date, but I noticed there was no GoG version number in the name of the current install program, so I thought I better re-download the program to check. I find that the size is very slightly different (20MB). So that might be the solution to my problem.
