It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Ok, it's understandable now.

Anyway, i have an virus alert with ESET Nod 32, even by starting the game. And the game can't be started at all, something with unvalid path or whatever. I will keep on waiting until things will get clearer ;-)

dx1: I wish the OP would be active in this thread. o_O
My apologies, I had things to do. (Also, it's rather late over here so I probably won't respond for a while after this post)

Anyhow, I'm getting the warnings with the 2.0.0.14 installer. It actually seems to find pretty much all the temporary files extracted by the installer as suspicious, as the exact file that gets quarantined seems to change every time I try to run the installer.

Malwarebytes doesn't detect anything so it's in all likelihood just a false positive, but I'd still like an official response on this before I dare ignore it.

Have you tried contacting GOG though the support page?

No, I have not. I kinda figured the devs would be reading this forum, seeing how active they are on the Steam forums. Guess not.

I'll try that, then.
I'm in the same boat, actually. I got two alerts from Avira Antivirus Pro during installation and now I cannot even launch the game as Avira blocks it, noting that Outcast's new executable contains TR/Confuser.1352192.
I installed it on 2 pcs, one with Avira (Free) the other with Avast (free), no alarm.
I think there is need for clarification from official position.

Indeed 2 out of 54 identify a virus, named confuser.
From what little information Google is giving me, it would seem that this 'Virus' is somehow related to debug software (and may have remained in the executable by mistake during the development phase?)
Anyway, I'm quite positive this is safe (but don't come to me if your computer explodes when you double click the executable ;) )

EDIT: Steam received a 'fix' which resolves the problem (so indeed this seems to be some debug software left by mistake in the executable, I'm hoping GOG will get this update as well)

Contacted GOG through support as well, and now we wait...

Excellent! Hope update arrives soon...
This problem seems to have been fixed. I think actually on the Avast end. Since Avast wouldnt' allow me to install it last night for me but tonight will. I had sent them a "false positive" report.
Avira Free Antivirus detects a virus in Outcast 1.1.exe 'TR/Confuser.1352192' [trojan]
Norton removes the exe, anyone else had that ?

Same here.
This just got updated, but I haven't had time to run the fix in an online scanner.
Does it still have Confuser?

No, I assume it does not.
After applying the patch, Avira no longer bugs me about it and the game's main executable can be started.
I hope somebody with a different antivirus software can confirm this as well.
I get the message that I am infected with Artemis (Trojan) Macafee then Quarentines it. After this I cannot apply the patch as the executable is not found.
