haydenaurion: If I have the gog version of Gothic 2 which has Night of the Raven included do I just install the Night of the Raven fixes/mods or do I need to install Night of the Raven AND Gothic 2 Classic fixes/mods?
avatar
MaGoth: Hi,
Need to install: G2NoTR-SystemPack-1.0.exe

avatar
hydrok9: I tried to install the gothic system pack but the installer won't let me get past the screen where I choose the installation path. The install button is just greyed out!
avatar
MaGoth: Need to install PlayerKit.
For Gothic1: PlayerKit ver. 1.08k
For Gothic2: GothicStarter ver.2.6f
Then the button will become active.
And do not be lazy, read the installation instructions.

MfG MaGoth,
You also need to make sure that you have a gothic2.exe in your system folder. The GOG version has gothic.exe as the executable. So you need to make a copy of that file and rename it gothic2.exe. The installers don't know that it's your gothic 2 folder without that file.

For "GOTHIC2: Night of The Raven"
1. Install game "GOTHIC2"
2. Install addon "GOTHIC2: The Night Of The Raven"
3. Install Gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2.exe
4. Install Gothic2_PlayerKit-2.6f.exe
5. Install G2NoTR-SystemPack-1.0.exe or G2Returning-SystemPack-1.0.exe or G2Odyssey-SystemPack-1.0.exe *
- depending on addon that you choose.
6. Play.

It's all there in the installation instructions.

Anyone here having problems with framerate in Gothic2? I'm currently only able to get a "decent" framerate (20+ fps with heavy drops from time to time) at the resolution of 800x600 and my laptop isn't THAT outdated (i3 + 310M, I know it's absolutely not the top of the line, but, I can run Borderlands on medium at 720p with 30+ fps). Any advice? I'm not even sure it uses the GPU. Is it maybe due to the fact that I'm on a laptop and the game doesn't support Optimus?

edit: maybe the low framerate is caused by the fullscreen mode, but I'm not able to play in windowed mode, since it crashes when I edit the .ini file

Ok, thanks for this. Is the save game I'm currently using compatible with this version? I have currently installed the ironkeep community patch and the texture pack.

for the gog version, which procedure should I follow between these two?

For "GOTHIC2: Classic"
1. Install game "GOTHIC2"
2. Install Gothic2_fix-1.30.0.0.exe
3. Install G2Classic-SystemPack-1.0.exe
4. Play. [Bild: gamer1.gif]

For "GOTHIC2: Night of The Raven"
1. Install game "GOTHIC2"
2. Install addon "GOTHIC2: The Night Of The Raven"
3. Install Gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2.exe

Stability:
• Increased min texture cache threshold;
• Disabled odd stream for resource manager;
• Disabled cache unloading when minimizing the game;
• Modified low FPS and showing window frame in full-screen mode on Windows 8 and 8.1.

Have fun :)
Is the Gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2 needed for Gothic 2 Gold Edition (GOG Version)?

EDIT: Does anyone have a download link for the Gothic 2 Player Kit? I can't find it on the World of Gothic site.

Thank you for the links MaGoth. Unfortunately Norton Internet Security is flagging the player kit as infected. I'm guessing this is a false positive. Do you know if anyone else has had this problem?

If you google search the exact name of the executables you need, the first result should be their own download page on worldofgothic.de (this is the playerkit: http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_168.htm), I, myself, used those exectuables and found no problem at all. Remember to rename your gothic executable to gothic2.exe, otherwise they won't work!
The link to the Gothic 3 community patch only has a single "working" mirror, at the World of Gothic website. "Working" in quotation marks because when the download completed, Chrome flagged it as malware and deleted it for me. :(

Can anyone verify the MD5 hash of the download and confirm whether or not it's actually infected with something? If it's just a false positive, I'll pick it up with something like JDownloader and then mirror it on my Mega.co.nz account for everyone.

Thank you for the alternative mirror. I'll make sure I rename those executables after I install the player kit.

EDIT: There must be something in the executable that my anti-virus doesn't like. I'm having the same issue as before. This wouldn't be the first time a mod executable gave me a false positive though.

It's a false positive. I downloaded it from worldofgothic.de, got no problem at all with Firefox and Avira. I checked the md5 hash and it's, correctly, 7DDF2AC4E64092FF33E8FC753119FCDD

@auroraparadox: mark it as an exception in your antivirus settings. I had no problem at all with Avira (no warnings whatsoever) and even proceeded to do a system scanner without finding anything. I think you should not worry about those warnings.

I can't install the Gothic 2 fix. When I run the fix installer and I change the path to the correct one the install button is greyed out. The installer is also in German so I may have missed something.

I have Gothic 2 Gold (GOG Version) installed on my system.

Any thoughts?
