SimonG: Personally I don't care a lot about graphics, old games still have often very good designed graphics. What a lot of games do need is an interface update.

The best example being early RTS games, where you manually had to select every action ... Similar issues plague many rpgs.
Definitely agree on the "interface update" point

as a matter of fact...I would apply this with most RPG's that come out today and have extremely outdated mechanics like turn based combat for example, the only reason turn based combat was in RPG's in the first place was because of extremely limited hardware and control mechanics (aka, D-pad and a couple of buttons)

I'm baffled at how it is the year 2012, we have powerful hardware with a wide range of diverse control methods and there are STILL RPG's coming out with turn based combat, any game that has this can get out of my face

I'm looking at you, Final Fantasy
Alone in the Dark 1 in the same way as Resident Evil 1 Remake for the gamecube.
Out of the games on GOG I would say Ultima Underworld(especially if Almost Human/the Legend of Grimrock guys got to do it) and World of Ultima 2: Martian Dreams

as for non GOG games that deserve a remake Chex Quest beyond a shadow of a doubt they need to remake Chex Quest.

Anybody preferring TBS to in RPGs please sound off.

Me!
I agree, Ultima IV would profit the most from a remake.

I've seen Spoony's review of it and the concept is just brilliant. I was never a big fan of the "You are the chosen one! Now go kill the big bad dude over there to save the world/universe/space-time contiuum).
Ultima IV just has a very unique and revolutionary idea and I would love to see it - hell, it's even free on GOG.com, so what's stopping me?

But sadly, I just find it a little bit to inaccessible. I can't really get into it, or loose myself in the world.

But as a modern RPG, 3D graphics, minimal UI, preferably real-time combat? It would have a high chance of being my favourite game of all time.

Aye! I can't stand the frantic slug-fests most RPGs are these days.
