And he dropped the ball further...

"To fight piracy, Early explained that Ubisoft needs to not only focus on making better, more compelling games, but also ensure that these games have more online services (which are not available to pirates) baked into them."

And that's exactly what i do not want to see in my games, either.
OMG people still talking about ubi? It's obviously that they are trying too hard to win the pc crowd (a platform they started out with).
Ubi was good until the AC milking began. Don't understand why people call them the most innovative company. Making the same thing over and over again with the same animations, same engine and adding co op doesn't make you innovative. Prince of persia on the Floppy disk, now that was innovative :p
Roll on the release of games with no DRM that have insurmountable difficulty spikes, so people will have to buy DLC to progress the game.....go Ubisoft!
I believe Ubisoft has many old games' rights, or maybe they have lost them.
I am still waiting for many old games published by Ubisoft coming here for a new life.

And I would like to see Child of Light and their WWI adventure game DRM-free too.
VP of digital publishing says, "I don't want us in a position where we're punishing a paying player for what a pirate can get around."
Sounds good...

but then

There ya go, always online DRM baked into the games. That's where we're headed since enough gamers are A-OK with it.
Uplay is a DRM, and a crappy one.
When you buy a game from a store, you can't even redeem the DLC on Ubi, you must write the serial somewhere, download installers from the site where you bought the DLC, install the DLC then redeem the code.
Ubisoft has quite a few good games, but sadly I didn't play any of the recent titles due to their UPlay requirement. Anno 2070, FarCry 3, the latest Splinter Cell... :(
When can we get Assassin's Creed 2 (sans uplay) on gog? I waaaaaants! (and yes, I voted on the wishlist already)

I agree with you if you are against having to be online. Having to be online playing a SINGLE player game is bullshit. Having to be online in a MULTIPLAYER game is fine as you need to be online to play with friends.

Ubisoft are pretty explicitly talking about always online for single player. Like with Anno 2070 where single player without internet was heavily penalised.
Ha-hA-HA!

This coming from Ubi. W...T...F!

Read it again. They say DRM can't stop piracy... so we need more always online DRM.
