MonstaMunch: So incase anyone but me cares about this Legendary thing, turns out certain monsters have a 0.04% chance of dropping Legendary items. From reading around a bit, it seems only a dozen or so people have found one so far. Sadly someone has also posted all the command console codes to get monsters to drop them, so even if I do eventually find one, it won't feel special as everyone will just assume I cheated to get it. I guess this is a drawback of having such a moddable game.

kodeen: I think they also only drop in NG+, if there are any other required conditions, I don't know what.
They can drop in the first playthrough, but since the weakest of the legendary items are around item level 60 you'll only have a chance for them to drop around the end of act 3 onwards (and given their low drop rate most people won't be seeing them drop outside of a NG+, although it does happen as the one I found dropped in act 3 of my first playthrough).

Nice find, good work! Though sadly, this is yet another example of a Legendary item with stats that if we're being honest, aren't all that spectacular. I mean they are good, but not as super awesome as they should be considering their rarity. That wand you have is 8 levels lower, and still seems considerably better.

Edit: Ok, they are maybe about the same accounting for the armor reduction in the Legendary, but still.

Isn't that why we have an enchanter so we can "gamble" our extreme good fortune into even better fortune (or tears)?

Plus, 2 sockets... and the gems in TL2 rock!

stripping 162 armour with every shot is pretty huge...

Yeah, but I've found unenchanted, non rare items with 4 sockets, and the enchanting in TL2 is no where near as powerful as TL1, not to mention it seems even the best enchanters can only offer up to 3 levels of enchantment. The best I found so far was an enchanter in a cave who did unique enchantments. There's also one who can add sockets on to already socketed items, but sadly I didn't have any gold when I found him, and when I went back he was gone :(

Edit: Just to be clear, I'm not saying the Legendary stuff isn't awesome, it is, I was just hoping it might be a little more awesome, that's all.

Yes, but considering I've found rares that strip 120 that are 10 levels lower, I wouldn't call it Legendary.....

I've only found 4 sockets on whites... I think... are you saying you've found purples or better with 4 sockets? Or set items that don't suck?

I didn't realize enchanting was nerfed a bit, I've only tried one chant per item since I'm still poor.

I haven't found 4 sockets on items with decent enchantments or rares. But yes, I have found some set items that are pretty awesome. Maybe we should have a thread for comparing loot and offering trades?

For a pistol that's actually quite good, since you can (and should) have 2 of them equipped. Using that and another rare or unique around the same level, you could be doing 700 DPS.

Agreed, it's quite good, but there are also a lot of uniques that are quite good too. Not sure what I was expecting, I realize they need to keep balance within the game, but considering how rare they are, I was hoping for items that would be indisputably better than anything else in the game. So far that doesn't seem to be the case.

I believe 4 levels of enchantment is the maximum. But, that's just what one of the tip screens when loading said.

Keep in mind that that particularly legendary pistol is one of the weakest of the legendary items (you can read in the item description how many legendary items of a certain type there are, and where a particular legendary item falls in that spectrum). Compared to other items I was seeing when it dropped it was far superior, and it was just finding better items as the game progressed into higher levels that made it no longer seem as good. Of course, there's also the question of how the stats on a given item fit with a certain build, which can mean the difference between a given item either being great or mediocre for a given character.

EDIT: Add a second legendary to the collection. I'm not sure whether to feel lucky or to take it as a sign I'm playing the game too much.

Well, I played one character through the stress test, and a couple through the demo, and I gotta say TL2 is just not drawing me in. Sure, it's fun as a timewaster, but it really feels like something is missing compared to the likes of Titan Quest.

Guess I'll wait for it to be on a 75% sale before getting it.

The Luminous Arena on elite is pretty insane. Took many tries and had to revive twice at entrance to complete it. Went back in again and managed to clear it in one go. Crazy. Probably fun at lower levels but definitely crazy at insane. I heard there's another crazier one at Act 3.

It's not for everybody. You might as well wait for it to come out on GOG or somewhere DRM free. Also, the game will have mods starting to come out any time now, and it's definitely possible that one or more of those will spark your imagination.

Personally, I'm getting sucked in the way that I did with D2 and D, but I can totally understand why somebody wouldn't want to play, it can be pretty mindless.
