Well I have no words with helping in cheering up other then keep busy and its not the end of the world. Alot of things can happen to people but still be happy.
Like me for example. Most of my life existed out of crap up until veeery recently.
- My youth horrible, bullied at school at home by my sister (problem child Huuuuge problem child) Mom and dad argueing nonstop, fighting with my sis non stop and my dad being a sorry drunk everyday.
- When i moved out my roommates turned drug users bullied me and I left that place only to be evicted out of my new house by the goverment because of some stupid mistake my houselord made (unknowingly was a great guy). In this period I started automutilating myself wich didnt make me happier either, so I started writing poetry more. And thought it was time for anti-depressive's and professional help.
- Third house was freaking expensive, lost my job couldnt afford it anymore and had to move back to the hellhole that was my parents home.
-My dad got very ill in 1995. Last year he underwent lungtransplantation. But up until now its still not going that great. Better then before but non the less.
- March this year was hell, my dad, both grandpa's and an uncle all went to hospital for serious things. One of my granddads died eventually after a week in the hospital. And I had surgery myself because of a damaged hip I have and im only 28 and have to live with that for the rest of my life. Until im old enough and the hip is damaged enough so that they will give me a new hip.
Oh and my GF dumped me when I got out of hospital and was immobile.........tho that was on one side a good thing. I started to dislike the wench anyways, and im still single.
And still generally Im still managing to be happy or find happiness with things. So cheer up. Its not the end of the world for you and it will all get better eventually.
Oh and im poor too :P

well m8 , it seems you had you're share of obstacles as well.
The thing is that you'll find happyness easier in small things.
As your ead in my story i didn't have an easy childhood as well.
But i can really appreciate and feel happy when sitting in the sun , surrounded by trees and grass , listening to the water and the birds. Then open up a nice cold coce and a sigaret.
in the past i didn't care for this. I started noticing small things when not worrying so much.
Happyness isn't in a multi million dollar house as far as i'm concerned.

Now that we can both agree on. I've never seriously wanted to be rich, just to have enough money to live and meet my relatively small needs and sometimes do something extravagant like go on holiday

Indeed , i don't need a lot of possessions , firstly because i hate searching when lost something.
What i do need is a car (don't care which one it is as longs as i get where i'm supposed to be) , a kick ass computer and some clothes. For the rest there's nothing if i would miss when lost , burned , stolen , ... .

Indeed having to much stuff isnt necesary. Im quite content with the small things in life.
And indeed I can enjoy the simple things in life aswell. Maybe more then those who had a life wich only went good.
I wouldnt change my passed. It made me the way I am and I can life with that very well.

Did you try throwing in some RAM? My laptop's GPU is a PoS. Went from slideshow to tolerable once I threw in another 2g of RAM. That game loooooves RAM.

Agreed on the positive impact of nature. Even if you're not the wilderness type. If you live in a big city, you can easily see virtually no nature at all. Even as little as a green lawn can be an odd sight to you. That reflects back on you, and makes you a little unnatural yourself. I believe it's healthy to go to vantage points where you aren't cramped in by man-made walls and horizons, and where you can see for a long distance. A tall building, if you can't find a seashore or mountain. It unwinds you a bit, sometimes quite invisibly. Same with man-made shapes versus natural ones. A visual diet of nothing but right angles and precision-cut shapes is okay for robots, but it can make you feel like one yourself. Or just instinctually assume you are one without questioning it anymore, and modify your behavior accordingly.

That is certainly true, it reflects something similar that I discovered in my writing class on monday. We had to write about a room we were familiar with so since I spend the majority of my life in it, I picked and described my bedroom. As I was writing it, I realised something that had never struck me before, my room is utterly devoid of life. Everything is a machine or a product of a machine and the only concession to life I have made is a fish tank with nothing in it because I could never afford the light. It was rather a depressing realisation and I think I've got to do something about it.
Apparently the writing class is going on a hike on monday to do some nature writing, I might take my camera and do some photos as well. Might even get some of the cute girls in class to pose for me...
I was actually thinking about that recently since after the death of my gaming rig, the laptop has become my main game machine. Might check some prices, its not like more ram can hurt the general operation and theres not much chance of my getting a gaming rig anytime soon...

well aliasalpha i can relate to that. My room was quite boring as well during my childhood , with FREAKIN PINK WALLPAPER.
When i redecorated the attick everything was a machine as well. TVset , stereo , computer , gameboy , speakers , dvdplayer , ... .
I realised that bringing nature in really brightened the place up.
I got myself some bushylike trees , a desktop wallpaper of a rainforest and a dvd that plays a burning campfire for like 3 hours.
strangely it felt as i brightened up as well.
That's when i started noticing things (a bunny rabbit (i know another fan on this community ^^ ) hopping in the fields , the fields themselves , trees ristling in the wind , ... .)
I even started to like those previously damned annoying birds on the rooftop.
i actually opened up my small tiny roofwindow in the evening to hear them in the morning while waking up.
I once had a fishtank but they all died. I used another lightbulb to save costs and i turns out that lamp heated the water way to high. So basiclly i fried them all together :s
Suddenly the cats where very fond of our garbage bags....

haven't read the whole thread, but...
alias: you may just be the funniest and chillest person i have ever met, and that's just from what i can tell through typeface. i can't imagine there is any real lack of babes that would love to enjoy your company. if you're feeling isolated you probably just need to get yourself out and about, there's no way people wouldn't want to hang out with you if they met you.
i mean, i usually find myself both laughing my ass off and marveling at your insight in almost everything you post.
