AlexY: The beta came a long way - it was one heck of a hog in the beginning, but now it's much more responsive and nifty. Small mode is back!
Also, this skin is way better.

Miaghstir: That IS a damn sight better than the default skin. Still, I'd like a choice for "OS look-and-feel".

What? And actually help the customers?

Thank you for sharing this!
So Beautiful
I really hope someone makes a new version of the Ice skin. The white text on black with the default skin gives me a headache.

AlexY: "The window edges are polished to a mirror sheen. The slider's have been reinforced. And resizing the window is tightened for added precision. The detail view is original, too. The library is extended to make it easier on the finger. Several views with non-slip thumbnails. A mini mode... The base of the chat window has been shrunk down for a better look. And not only that, nearly every part of this skin has been expertly crafted and customized!"
:)

Thank you so much for getting the reference. That was hilarious btw xD
+1!
I've had an awful time logging in to Steam through this Beta but it seems to be fixed now. AS for the look I don't really care. It's just gone from one ugly to another.

Admit it, you read it in his voice. ;D

I did. Having Snake in my conscience was quite nice, the colonel was there, Eva too, Ocelot, etc... Quite a good party might I say.
April 26:
"New Steam Client Officially Released!"
Anyone has a problem updating the client?

Catshade: Anyone has a problem updating the client?

Nope. Mostly because I was using the beta so I had to update less stuff, if at all.

I had the beta installed, and it updated when I started it now (5-10mb update I guess). No problems.
Wouldnt connect for me at first, reloaded and all was fine.
I waited for the official release and just installed it today. Here's my first impressions:
Pros:
I think it looks pretty good in some areas, though I had grown attached to my cold tank-like version of Steam. I like the view of your games list where the games are in a small column on the left with a picture and info on the right. That's really cool. I also like the download stats and more integrated info on friends.
Cons:
I wish I had more options to organize my games list. I don't know why Steam doesn't have a folder system or options to organize by genre, year, date of purchase, or other categories (which I thought was going to be added). I also don't like how uninstalled games aren't put in their own little section like before. Currently, it's been running slower, but they may just be because I'm using it for the first time and it has to develop a cache for all images related to my games.

jungletoad: or other categories (which I thought was going to be added).

Right click on a game and "Set Category" for it. Also, where it says "All Games", click on that and you can set it to show only installed games.

michaelleung: The beta's open for all, but you might need to wait because it won't magically show up in your Settings menu like they seem to imply.

It does, thats how i found it.
And my thoughts on the beta? It's great. The improved library and store is way better that the current steam's!
