Hey, I just noticed the "Beta" badge in the top right of the Steam client has been replaced by a "New" badge. Has the new Steam UI gone live to everyone now?

No, it will be forced onto everyone on Monday.

I've tried to live a good life. I've tried so hard to avoid DRM, to avoid giving my money to huge corporations who value income over artistry and vision. I've tried so hard.
But there's no escape, there's nothing I can do to avoid any of it.
I can feel the taint on me and I can't get it off.
I'm out of options.
By the time you read this I'll already be gone. I'd like to pretend that this means something, anything. That it might serve to wake people up to what's really happening but I know nothing will change.
Remember me, remember what we've lost.
god save PC gaming.
errrr
Still waiting for that Mac version so I can install it on my laptop...

rewsan: Not sure about the new Steam, I seam to be scrolling down pages a lot more than I used to and it's not all that smooth.
Not tried downloading anything yet though.

I noticed too when I tried the beta first day, it took me twice as long to get where I am going in the new client. That alone is the reason I say new steam sucks, lack of intuitive interface. A rollback to original client followed a minute later.
I am using the new UI for Steam on Windows 7 64bit.
Seems to run a lot faster compared to the old one.
As for the GUI, I like the fact that I can finally categorize my games ( but seems to be a bit too much work). However, I prefer the old Store website (probably not used to the new layout).

I used to find the beta slow, but maybe I've just gotten used to it or maybe it has indeed gotten a lot more optimized but it feels snappy compared to the old one. I like it. Also, it appears to be less of a RAM hog.
The beta came a long way - it was one heck of a hog in the beginning, but now it's much more responsive and nifty. Small mode is back!
Also, this skin is way better.

"The window edges are polished to a mirror sheen. The slider's have been reinforced. And resizing the window is tightened for added precision. The detail view is original, too. The library is extended to make it easier on the finger. Several views with non-slip thumbnails. A mini mode... The base of the chat window has been shrunk down for a better look. And not only that, nearly every part of this skin has been expertly crafted and customized!"

I feel like the phrase "rich Corinthian leather" should be in there somewhere.

That IS a damn sight better than the default skin. Still, I'd like a choice for "OS look-and-feel".
