I don't under GOG at times. NONE of us know how many pre orders for games (if any) GOG receives, but it should be an option at least for people. It has been mentioned quite a few times people who have bought a given game elsewhere on release when GOG was a bit slow on selling that same game.I love GOG but mentality imho needs to change a little bit (i love surprises but a game thats available on pre order should really be made available same time here (given they had already come to agreement to sell the game here)
Well Hell, here I've been tootling along in my riverboat through Fool's Paradise, assuming this game was a done deal for January 14th. Not it might not be? That fracking sucks if so, as I have really been looking forward to this one.

amok: so do you say that gog do not know what games do release when they do the "surprise release" releases that they do? (which is almost all of them, gog have very few pre-orders.... and all the 'confirmed' releases are usually through other sources, such as the developers or Kickstart pages, not from gog. Like that forum thread. It is strange that the community seems to know better gog's release schedule than gog does)
No I say that, IMO, if they don't do pre-order very often it's probably more because of "contractual" reasons rather than them wanting do "surprise releases". I suspect that it's probably often linked to their "same price everywhere/no region restriction" policy like what happens with Daedalic games.
Thanks for the update. What a shame.
The reason it's not coming to GOG is the price. GOG doesn't allow indie games to be priced $25. That's why no Xenonauts on GOG either. The developer of Xenonauts wanted it here but GOG refused them, and no doubt the same scenario with Banner Saga too. So blame GOG not the developer.

I hear that... Very disappointing!

Or these?

And I'm pretty sure we can come up with more.

It would be a real shame if this game doesn't make its way to GOG. It would be a great addition to GOG's catalogue. However, I'm happy to wait. If The Banner Saga is eventually released on GOG, good, I'll buy it. If it's never released on GOG, too bad, I won't play it. God knows my backlog is bad enough as it is, I can live without yet another game that will sit in my queue for months.

I've been tootling down that very same river. Can't believe it's not absolutely 100% confirmed. I so wanted to get a gog key for backing this :(

Lo Wang disagrees with you.
I haven't really paid attention to this game as I assumed, like Blackguards, it was all about combat but then I read something about your strategy in combat may affect the narrative or something like that.

Is there more to this game than combat?
Stoic is doing an AMA on Reddit tomorrow, so anyone that wants the game here perhaps ought to bring the subject up.
Lol looks like I might have to pre-order this on steam :(. Wanted the extra stuff that comes from pre-ordering and it's 5 bucks off :/

I think combat will play a very large roll in this game but on the other side of it you have all the dialogue descions you need to make which effects your party and hero allies and then travel. This game sounds like it has a fair bit in common with King of Dragon pass.

Check the 3 minute video below to see a quick overview of the travel aspect of the game.

This was posted almost a year ago in Project Update #33:

We are shipping the game for Steam first, and the standalone port (on Desura, GOG and Amazon) will be our immediate task after that. Yes, that does mean Steam will get it slightly sooner because we’re already integrated in Steam. However, the game is universal to all backers, so even if you prefer the standalone version you will have access to the Steam version. We don’t see any reason to withhold the game while we convert it to work as a standalone. We are also going to be more quiet between updates as they can take a lot of time to produce.
So, we have known for quite a while now that a DRM-free release will come after the original release date. Once more, we will have to wait a while longer, but I personally do not consider that to be a problem. I would rather have a late DRM-free release, than no DRM-free option at all. Plus, since the combat spin-off Factions is an MMO, it is reasonable that their base game is integrated with Steam.
