Btw. the right way about approaching sales is like keeveek is doing it. Look at your wishlist and if anything is considerably over 50% discounted, buy it, otherwise just ignore the sale. That way you'll never get disappointed.

Really? GOG's sale had plenty of great games, I wasn't personally interested because I already own them all. Steam's current sale has absolutely nothing on the front-page I'd want to buy and play.

At this point all sales are mediocore. Be it GOG, Steam or Amazon. Everyone already has most of the games they want and there's the occasional "Hmm, this game looks kinda fun and it's not a new title so it gets a good price" and the new titles that don't get a that big of a sale for most people to give a shit.

Not to mention, GOG did blow the whole mystery of what's next by introducing all the deals early on. And this is a personal thing, but I've never liked bundle sales.

But yeah, the first day of daily deals on Steam is pretty shit. Except Hotline Miami. Flash sales and Community choices seem to be going well.

Pff... I don't like "mysteries" when I shop. I have money right here, right now, and I want to know what can I buy.

GOG reveal was a good thing for me, because I knew how to distribute my money reasonably. I hate it when I buy sometihng on a daily deal, but the next day is the game I wanted more but I thought it's not gonna be on daily deal.

GOG way is clearer.
Up to this point, flash sales and community choices were usually the same deals as on daily deals anyway.
Which is another bummer, because you're waiting for the daily deals like a dog for its bone and you see the same deal that was previously featured.

If it's at 75%, you're most likely very safe to go.

Most of the 'fantastic wonderful dailies" are pretty shit imho :). Now if they sold them for a $1 each id be right in (this is for the bozo's who expect all games to be same prices as u get in supercheap indie bundles hahaha)


Fwiw Strike Suit Zero game/dlcs are all 75% ...surprised me. Ridge Bound Racer bundle isnt a bad deal either..

Dude, steam sales apart from daily deals are the same shit over and over again. Some of the games I already bought like 4 years ago, and they get the same discount today. So steam lacks "surprises" as well.

You can something with a little bit of trawling, there are hidden gems in there which Steam itself will never have on the frontpage.

I will go slowly through the list and see what else I might just get for prices like this. I could not say that the gog sale made me do the same.

Have fun doing that. I did the same three christmas's ago, and nothing more really interesting to be found since, at least for me.

But I keep a pretty expanded wishlist, so I don't need to check that regularily. But I may as well wait for the next Halloween or Christmas sale to buy the same games for the same discount, there's no hurry.

Even if I had money :P this summer Valve wouldn't see a penny from me...

I tend to like the random "surprises" I find hidden somewhere much better than what someone tries to flash in my face. The gog sale had only one day of "surprises", the mid-summer day sale, after this I did not even bother checking back. It was a missed opportunity.

Well what do you really expect when Steam not only has a huge game selection but also hugely discounts pretty much everything on every big sale. There are only so many good new games that would keep it fresh.

This is another part I don't like. They use only AAA and indie games for daily deals. Nothing in between. I remember them doing some extra categories back in the day (not necessarily featured on the front page).

Now it's either front page or browsing through their vast catalogue.

We're very different once again :P I maintain my wishlists very carefully, so I don't need to be surprised. I have my shortlist of wanted games long enough (yeah) that I very rarely am left with money to spend and no particular idea how to spend it.

Although I bought some hidden gems on Steam sales before, but it was already years ago. Like Birth of America for 1 EUR.
