I had a feeling you might enjoy that! I toyed with Libertarianism years ago and while there are some parts that may be appealing, it always left me with a sense of terrible feelings of unmitigated greed.

You apparently have really poor judgment. There is nothing hateful about saying that an American patriotic song should be done in English. There is nothing bible-toting about it especially since it's a non-religious (secular) statement and I'm not just talking about my own statement.

Also, most of the complaints were never intended to be big deals. The vast majority of the people who complained about the Coke ad, including myself, are more concerned with US national debt, inflation, underemployment, unemployment, and defending what's left of our constitutionally-protected individual liberties. Your claim against the complainers is a built upon a strawman. The only people who were making a big deal of it were those defending Coke's leadership and making personal attacks against the complainers. In other words, the race-baiters; the real racists (look at the ones who despise black conservatives and black Republicans); the "blame America first" types; the illegal immigrant sympathizers (the ones who welcome illegals but then bitch about higher costs, overpopulation, and depressed earnings); and the fake historians (the ones who go on and on about the ethnic Native Americans while forgetting how they waged wars against each other constantly or the atrocities committed by Mexican settlers) were the real troublemakers. I've seen plenty of them on Facebook.

By the way, "white pride" just means dispelling "white guilt" and embracing a culture that traces back to European origin. It's no more racist or worse than "black pride" or "Hispanic pride." Just throwing that out there.

Poor judgment is what those who were outraged about the ad were quite plainly and clearly displaying, for many different reasons I will point out below.

Reading over the tweets, I doubt very many of them are concerned about the debt, employment or inflation beyond what they hear on Fox News. Even fewer of them have actually read the constitution, much less understand it, who wrote it or where parts of it originated. This much is gleaned from their benighted (and I am being generous here) statements broadcast for the world to see, very publicly and proudly and most assuredly in the mindset they are in the majority. That many of them have turned on Twitter location services has made for some interesting maps of the country in the past.

You began your missive, in the second sentence of the first paragraph after your statement of clarity, defining why your statements should not be taken as bigoted. I am defining for you why not only your statements, but all the others, in fact do come across as bigoted. The people who came out against the ad were exposing an extreme amount of ignorance about their own country and the people in it, many were not even attacks against Coke, but pointed barbs at the very American actors in the commercial. These people are like fish baiting their own hooks, it was curious to watch so much idiocy occur at once, and also so sad.

I suggest you move your education a little further beyond Facebook. As an Archaeologist, I can tell you about the relations between pre-European contact Indigenous American groups. Hint: they were just as human as anyone else and acted against and for one another in the manners any other group of humans have around the world. My Historian friends could tell you far more about colonization of the Americas and relations between the many indigenous and colonial groups. Hint: Pretty much the same as above. What you have heard from "fake historians" is little more than opinionated sound bites from people with specific agendas.

Pride is one's ethnic group is as outmoded as extreme nationalism is in solidifying a group of people. They are simply artifacts of history which are dug up for political or social gain generally by racists or nationalists. Be proud of the accomplishments of one's country or world for the good things that it has done. Or proud in one's self because of what was accomplished for the public good. Being proud because one can trace their ancestry back to a plot of land or culture is nothing short of foolishness; studying the historical context or prehistoric record is a far more rewarding experience and tells a lot more about humanity.

Trying to make me sound dumb or uneducated isn't going to get you anywhere. I researched on my own plenty about the fate of the California Native Americans at the hands of Mexican settlers and listened to Native American historians (ones of the actual ethnicity) talk about how their ancestors did things that they themselves would have cringed at. You're right that they were people who fought against each other just as another other ethnicity. I knew that all along. I was pointing out how these multicultural zealots were promoting the so called "noble savage" myth about the ethnic Native Americans.

If you think a handful of remarks represents everyone who did not appreciate that ad or an American patriotic song being sung in various languages, then you are thinking as poorly as Coke's advertising department, some of the posters you mentioned, and the multicultural zealots who I was referring to in my previous statement.

By the way, pride in one's culture is respecting one's culture and origin. There is nothing wrong with it. I am quite proud of my nationalistic roots as an American and my Germanic ancestral roots.
