There is also

7. Shitty console ports that run like garbage when they shouldn't because the people behind these games decided not to put any effort into the PC versions. So instead they just make the game play through a shitty unoptimized emulator. GTA IV is a good example of this. When it came out, powerful PCs were barely able to run it at 30fps and the game would just overheat lesser machines until they exploded in people's faces(I'm exaggerating a bit here but not too much). :)

8. Early Access games being shoved in your face(if you use Steam).

9. Companies abandoning unfinished broken games to move on to greener pastures...so basically a lot of people get stuck with a $50 alpha or beta version...

10. Games that favor NVIDIA hardware or super powerful PCs. Poor gamers get fucked.

11. Horrible indie games. I'm not talking about all indie games. Just the ones with shitty graphics, shitty game play, shitty everything but looks retro so some people are into it.

12. Not being able to sell your used PC games. In the past, when I did a lot of gaming on consoles, I found it awesome to be able to sell a bunch of my games for easy cash quickly.

Absolutely everything you said, except the NVIDIA stuff, I like their GPUs. Although, I find it annoying when games favor AMD stuff, so I guess it evens out.

I don't have anything against their GPUs but I hate it when games favor NVIDIA or ATI or whatever. A game should be fair to all kinds of hardware.

Yeah, I agree entirely on that point. Games should not show preferential treatment with regards to hardware, but not being a programmer or anything that remotely resembles one, I don't know how they favor or disfavor in the first place.
13. Mutliplayer games with no community being advertised... So you look at the ad, think,"WOW, this game looks awesome." Then you buy it and then you find out, you can play this game with 2 other people in this world. There are some multiplayer games available for purchase that are entirely dead(meaning nobody plays the game). That is like selling a car without a fucking engine...

I always felt there were more Nvidia pro games out there.... and only recently we seen a lot more pro Ati adverts but you guys are right...should really be neutral....

Anyone else find the Nvidia Shield to be kind of a stupid idea? Not that I hate its very existence, I just don't see the point it makes or the contribution it makes to the market.

This is an issue with Steam itself and not the games. Steam handles Early Access games poorly and lumps them in with all the other games which annoys people when they're not even looking for early access games. To say that games being released early so that people can play test it, find bugs/balance issues and overall make the end product better is a bad thing in of itself is freaking insane.

---

On that note, why do games ALWAYS have a buggy release now days? Some games are completely unplayable when they first come out!

I am guessing it's because they have greater levels of design complexity.

Greater level of complexity and it's possible to deliver patches immediately instead of printing a CD or floppy discs of an improved version of the game :)

Reminds me of "The Fall - Reloaded", "Sacred - Reloaded", etc... where this actually happened.
The Fall is still buggy (still worth the play) and the addon of Sacred runs like shit.

The worst example of buggy games may be "Ultima - Ascension" and "Gothic 1", but at least the support for Gothic 1 was ongoing until most bugs were entirely gone (took some years though), while Ultima... well you know the story.
I'd really wish for a playable remake of Ultima - Ascension. Was anyone ever able to finish this game?

One of our testers, Krash, finished the game :)

edit: our version of it, anyways :)

Well that's kind of dumb, isn't it? "I don't like bad indie games because other people like bad indie games" :D Not to mention that, you know... Bad games were always released. Always. It's not a new thing. Unless you specifically dislike bad games without publisher, in which case you're right I suppose

Protoss: Only back then there were no achievement telling you you HAVE to get 100p. Back then you could search for the secrets or let it be, and still finish the game.

Today you'd be bugged by that one achievement being not unlocked...
When a game is designed to be replayed, it's perfectly reasonable that it gives you achievements for replaying it

Well you were collecting gold treasures in Wolfenstein. There are loads of examples of old games where you collected useless shit for score or other nonsense, definitely not a new thing.

On the other hand, I do love these rose-tinted glasses threads :-P

WTF? Drugs are bad. Where do you get "I don't like bad indie games because other people like bad indie games"?
Yes, bad games are nothing new but bad INDIE games are new.
