So heinous are the crimes of witches that they even exceed the sins and the fall of the bad Angels; and if this is true as to their guilt, how should it not also be true of their punishments in hell? -- "Hammer of the Witches", Henricus Institoris, Anno Domini 1486

Inquisitor, the dark medieval story of witchcraft prosecution that looks and feels like a product of the golden age of PC RPGs, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99.

The world stands on the brink of collapse, and you, a member of the Holy Inquisition and a witch hunter, are the only force that can protect the faith, fight the heresy, and solve the conflict fueled by hellish forces. As one of three main characters you will delve into the gloomy world full of atrocious crimes and powerful enemies, and try to unravel the monstrous conspiracy that threatens the Realm. Soon, the burning funeral pyres will light your way and the screams of tortured heretics will let your enemies know that the fearless Inquisitor is here to investigate, judge, and punish.

Inquisitor, a game that's been developed and polished over the course of 10 years, tosses you into a large, open gameworld and a non-linear gameplay, which contains over 1,5 million words in its dialogs, side texts and descriptions. This story-driven action RPG will present you with hundreds of quests, items, spells, robust player statistics, and skill sets. You'll be following a gritty, mature, and captivating story that dares to go deep into one of the darkest chapters in the history of humankind. All this, and more, packed in the form of an RPG true to the isometric roots of classic PC gaming.

Unleash God's wrath on the heads of the heinous heretics as the Inquisitor, for only $14.99!

I skipped to his summery and thats good enough for me

thanking y'all
I've heard of frustration, but ffs! First village, a guy comes out of a house and attacks me and kills me.

I got a spell that adds fire damage to my weapon, assign health potions, go back, enchant my sword, the fight starts, start whacking him, after about 6 hits, my sword disintigrates, then my armour disintigrates, in the end I am just chugging potions and punching the fecker with my fists and he still kills me ...in the first fucking village!

Dont think I'll be playing this "game" for long.

And why does the spell seller keep changing his bloody inventory every time you open dialogue with him, between that and the crap shop inventory display, its just a pita.

Its hard to believe they have been working on this for 10 years.

You know you ... Can just run and let guards take care of him.

Grab just a bunch game enthusiasts. Tell them to make a 100 hours long RPG in their spare time, with families and jobs. How long do you think it's gonna take them?

I did try to kite him and the guards helped m kill him, but I got no XP, so I reloaded and tried in the other direction, but again a guard stepped in and I got no XP. My gripe is the fact that my weapon and armour disintigrated after 6 hits, thats just BS, first I thought I had somehow unequipped them so I reloaded, then I saw the messages that my armour had "disappeared" etc.

As regards your second comment, without getting into an argument with you lets just say, if I did what you suggest and I wound up making this game, I wouldnt have the cheek to charge 15 bucks for it.

Suffice to say, there are much better games for a fiver, if you havent played them yet, get them instead of this.

Well the initial asking price was 35 bucks, and I do agree it's not really a competitive price on a website where you can get PS:T for 9. Still, it's a good game, and it's rather rare - there's only ever so few like it. So for a niché market, it works well. Sadly, even then, it's not for everyone, especially if you're not forgiving.

Yes, I was really enjoying the subject matter and I even liked the dialogue alot, but its kinda hard to believe its being released like this in 2012, if it was an older game being re-released in this state, I could understand it and probably forgive its quirks, but decaying weapons are OK in a game like dead Island as there are so many weapons laying around, but when you have sold all your gear and all you have is one piece of armour and one sword, you dont expect (the spanish inquisition!) to not even be able to complete one fight.

Anyway, I'll let the guards kill him and loot his armour and see if it improves :)

Keep in mind that you get XP for the killing blow :D. Let the guards and your party members whittle the guy down a bit and then try to get the killing blow for that juicy, delicious XP :D

To be fair, the guy who tries to kill you in the first village is really overpowered for where he is and most of the enemies you'll meet around that part of the game are not as powerful as he is. Your gear generally isn't going to decay that fast.

I got the impression that the developer didn't really intend for the player to fight him head on. There doesn't seem to be a reasonable way to be able to do well against him when you first come to town, he moves slow enough that you can make a run for it, and there is sizable group of guards conveniently stationed nearby.

Dunno, can you adjust the settings to show enemy HP bars? I cant check myself at the moment.

So, only the character that gets the killing blow gets XP for the kill, its not shared with the team members???
