So heinous are the crimes of witches that they even exceed the sins and the fall of the bad Angels; and if this is true as to their guilt, how should it not also be true of their punishments in hell? -- "Hammer of the Witches", Henricus Institoris, Anno Domini 1486

Inquisitor, the dark medieval story of witchcraft prosecution that looks and feels like a product of the golden age of PC RPGs, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99.

The world stands on the brink of collapse, and you, a member of the Holy Inquisition and a witch hunter, are the only force that can protect the faith, fight the heresy, and solve the conflict fueled by hellish forces. As one of three main characters you will delve into the gloomy world full of atrocious crimes and powerful enemies, and try to unravel the monstrous conspiracy that threatens the Realm. Soon, the burning funeral pyres will light your way and the screams of tortured heretics will let your enemies know that the fearless Inquisitor is here to investigate, judge, and punish.

Inquisitor, a game that's been developed and polished over the course of 10 years, tosses you into a large, open gameworld and a non-linear gameplay, which contains over 1,5 million words in its dialogs, side texts and descriptions. This story-driven action RPG will present you with hundreds of quests, items, spells, robust player statistics, and skill sets. You'll be following a gritty, mature, and captivating story that dares to go deep into one of the darkest chapters in the history of humankind. All this, and more, packed in the form of an RPG true to the isometric roots of classic PC gaming.

Unleash God's wrath on the heads of the heinous heretics as the Inquisitor, for only $14.99!

Elmofongo: So is this game like a Baldur's Gate clone?
Go to the game page, read reviews.
Imagine Diablo's combat mated with Baldur's Gate talkiness, and you will be on the right track.
Maybe I'm doing things incorrectly, but it seems like the enemies take ages to kill and respawn by the time I finally get the next one killed. Playing a priest on Normal. Maybe I'm not supposed to use only magic for the smiting..

The enemies respawn while you are still in the area?

Yeah, they do. It's always very limited - like one out of twenty enemies respawn - but it happens.
not had them re-spawn but does take a age to kill anything and magic seems next to useless as you fail at casting spells more than you succeed. also ranged combat is not so great as enimes just rush at you and have no tactics, combat would of been so much better if was turn based.

BG never really have a lot of 'talkiness' nor this great numbers of words, choices and options.

Yes, that is true. TB would be awesome.

If you play as thief(or priest) get the dog and paladin as your sidekicks. They are both in the first city.

Look around town. There might be someone there who can help you. Someone of an indeterminable gender.

Not found the second one yet, I'll have to start looking! But the one I have right now is really useful, although it tends to gobble up potions at an alarming rate.

OK thanks, btw, can you pause combat and issue party commands? I have a sprained wrist at the moment, so maybe I'll give it a shot if you can pause.

Someone will appear in the city, when you leave it and talk with one armored man ;)

With 'D' you can turn off the 'auto-quaf' option but... better choice is to buy more healing potions.

extra tip: save before you attack spiders, the venom is really iritating - it take 5 minutes to wear off.

No, your sidekicks are AI, you can only use 'G' for hold ground and 'x' for attack and others. Game will only pause when you open inventory.

Well actually you can press "pause/break" button and the game does pause itself, then you can drink potions or do a single action - like choose an enemy to attack, choose a spell to cast - and when you unpause the game, the last issued action takes place (in addition to potions you have drank and inventory changes you have made)

I just return to town to get healing, that removes all negative effects.

Priests in front of the Church? They just heal me, but poison remains :/
