A cyberpunk thriller of man and metal.

Bioforge, the classic post-human action game with 3D characters, atmospheric pre-rendered locations and memorable story, is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Pain. I feel pain. Feel? No. I only register its presence. That metallic taste in my mouth. What is it? Chrome and nitrogen coolant. How did I know that? Need to open eyes. My eyes! What happened to my vision? Why does everything look so sharp and artificial? Oh god! I don't feel my breath. Why don't I breathe? My hands! My body! It's metal! It's frickin' metal! What the hell happened? Where am I? Oh, god... Who... am I? Fear. I think I should feel fear.

Bioforge is a futuristic techno-thriller full of strange cybernetic creatures, ominous corridors, and terrifying mysteries, produced by the creator of the Ultima saga--Richard Garriot himself! You are Lex, a man unwillingly transformed into a cyborg by a dangerous sect of post-human cultists. Deprived of your memories and identity you'll need to navigate your way through a off-world base challenging your wits with puzzles and testing your skills in many action sequences, in a gameplay bearing a strong resemblance to the classic Alone in the Dark series. Can you escape from the clutches of insane fanatics, fight your way through the many horrors of your prison, and salvage whatever scraps of your memories and your humanity you might find?

Wake up to a nightmare of flesh, chrome, and oblivion and discover the horrible secrets of the Bioforge, for only 5.99!
The game is so unique... I love it. And I actually love the clunky controls, they were fun to learn! You actually controly every limb through separate button. It's like a fighting game - you can input combos! What game lets you do that instead of predefined moves?

I'm stuck somewhere near the end of the game... i will finish it now. Unfortunately the game is supposedly unfinished - they were planning a sequel.

Call me crazy with a K, but it has an "Another World" feeling to it, albeit much darker. The art direction and voice acting are top notch.

And the characters have real 3d models! The game can render up to 3 of them at the same time! Isn't that awesome?

Also the game is friggin hard (which is a good thing, they don't make em like that anymore), you can get stuck (not sure if becouse of broken puzzles, but low health certainly etc.) so save often on different slots!

There's also a lot of story logs to read. You can laugh at the lore books in Diablo 3 now. Well they didn't have to VA every one of them in Bioforge.

Overall, a total classic which everyone interested in history of video games should experience.

Great Release! Where did this come from?
This is more like it! Thank you GOG!
OMG
Wishlisted! I voted this game on the wishlist time ago. The screenshots are not bad compressed... the game is 320x200 and looks like that...

Now.. that conference... ^_^
Can we perhaps pursuede EA to finish the cancelled expansion for this game too?

:P

I know, but there was a lot of compression artefacts all over them. I think they fixed it in the meantime; it looks crisper now.
Looks interesting.

bazilisek is right, they fixed the screenshots.

nah, still the same.
the game is from 95 so its understandable
Maybe the screenshots can be made look better by selecting a different display output and shader. I always use OpenGL for output and normal2x for shader for these kind of games, also highest resolution and keep aspect ratio checked.

Yeah, I think it is aspect ratio, the shots look stretched.
GOG has the nasty habit of putting widescreen screenshots with their games when the games themselves are 4:3.

Wow GOG, you are making all my nostalgia dreams come true. First the Crusader series, then Ultima series and just a while ago, Carmageddon.... and now this??? I have wished all these to come here all this time. Thank you GOG! I remember when back in the day we bought a CD-ROM drive to our 486 pc and then bought this game to go with it. Ah the memories. ;D

I think you people misunderstand me. The 320x200 looks like it always did, but the compression to JPEG was set too high. That has nothing to do with DOSBox. I didn't save the original screenshots, but here's a simulation of what it looked like before and what it looks like now.

Anyway, it's a moot point now. The game is going to look as good/bad as ever.

Well thanks for explaining this, you are right, but the shots still look like they are hopelessly stretched.

Oh my god. Such memories. I actually didn't recognize the title. But once I looked at the screens, it all came rushing back! Good release!

Now I'm curious: what WAS the PC scene like back in 95 in Japan?
