Have you ever been trapped in a nightmare?

Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a gripping first-person perspective horror story full of mystery, darkness, and demons lurking in the shadows inducing a constant sense of dread, is available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 only for the first 48 hours, to get your DRM-free copy!

Thousands of pages have been written on the anatomy of fear. It's one of the most basic emotions shaping the human psyche and dictating our actions. But how many of us actually know fear? Not the tingling sensation that something's wrong and you should be worried, but actual terror that's caused by constant, lethal, and very real, yet unfamiliar threat. This is a game that, according to many, comes as close to inducing that state, as possible for a computer game. Praised for its gripping atmosphere, perfect pacing, and involving gameplay, it's one of the most prominent--in not the most prominent--modern achievements in terror fiction.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in a situation with no escape and the only thing you can do is to push forward, deeper into the nightmare that's becoming more morbid and terrifying by the minute. You will find yourself exploring a half-ruined castle, that witnessed many acts of madness and inhumane cruelty. Deprived of all memories, hunted by spawns of evil, forced to behold sights that shatter your sanity, you will venture into the darkness with no real hope of ever emerging victorious. Mixing a fascinating story, terrifying setting, and well-executed design, this title deserves a place in every horror fan collection.

Are you ready to inject your mind with an excess dose of poisonous terrors? Empty your bladder, switch off the lights, put on your headphones, and throw yourself head-first into Amnesia: The Dark Descent, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 75% discount offer lasts until Saturday, July 27, at 9:59AM GMT.
Nice to see Amnesia on GOG! Does this mean there's a chance A Machine for Pigs (the sequel) will be released on GOG when it comes out?
Great game, great release, great price.... but was WAY too long in coming.

That said, it's really nice to finally have this here.
Slowly but surely approaching the 600 game mark. Well done ;)
If you decided to get this game, you really should play it the way it was meant to be played:

- alone
- in the dark (the only light coming from your monitor
- late at night
- using a nice pair of headphones with the volume up pretty high

When played properly, this game really does a great job of giving you that "scared" feeling that few other games can match. Some games go for that "scary moment" where a monster jumps out of nowhere. This game immerses you in an atmosphere where you really feel like you are in the characters shoes. There are times when you know you need to go into that dark room, but you really don't want to. Some times you'll hear a noise behind you, and you find yourself literally looking behind you (not just in the game but in real life).
Of all the "scary" games I've ever played, this one is by far the best at making you feel like you are the hero, both hopeless and helpless where every noise you hear and every choice you make might be your last.
Bought and downloaded. Thank you GOG.
Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs should be released within the next month or so.

Why do this always happens when my game-wallet is empty. Would love to try it.

Mivas: Awesome release!

EDIT: I purchased it from developer's website 2 years ago despite not being a horror fan just because they released it DRM-free and for Linux. Great studio with interesting blog.
I did the same, and also seem to have picked it up again on a humble bundle, might pick it up here for the last time. Then I swear I won't buy it again until I've played it beyond a quick test.
I bought this game at launch.

I'm still at level 1. 3 years later.
For some reason I can't help but think of Sanitarium when I look at this game, even though it's very different and a lot older.

That said, I've never played Sanitarium ;(

I should've scored it in the summer sale (maybe I'll get it in the winter sale).

Though I don't know if that will be scary, seeing it's age, and how the game is designed. But I could be pleasantly surprised!

I can't vouch for this game, but Sanitarium has held up really well. If you're at all interested in the genre, I'd say grab it the next time it's on sale...it's a great game.
I missed this on the humble bundle because I was out of town and totally forgot about it. I have it on steam but I never even loaded it up. I will gladly pick this up on GOG.

Trying to crack down on buying things here that I already own, but that sale is problematic! But I won't. Sorry GOG!
I love this game a lot, but there's one thing holding me back: no soundtrack. Frictional had some kind of promo long ago where a certain number of people got the soundtrack for the game when they purchased it, so I know they're simply not giving it to gog. That said, I'll probably still grab it.

Oh yeah, the Justine dlc was always free (it was included in one of the updates), so that really shouldn't be a selling point. However, Justine was easily twice as tense as Amnesia, especially the third encounter.

I just started playing Sanitarium this year. As an avid horror fan who started out with modern games, I still was not at all disappointed. I wouldn't call it scary, and I doubt that's what it was trying to do to begin with, but it is certainly creepy and eerie even today.
I've avoided spoilers and let's plays of this in the hope it'd arrive on GOG, and here it is on sale for 5 bucks... Score!
