Have you ever been trapped in a nightmare?

Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a gripping first-person perspective horror story full of mystery, darkness, and demons lurking in the shadows inducing a constant sense of dread, is available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 only for the first 48 hours, to get your DRM-free copy!

Thousands of pages have been written on the anatomy of fear. It's one of the most basic emotions shaping the human psyche and dictating our actions. But how many of us actually know fear? Not the tingling sensation that something's wrong and you should be worried, but actual terror that's caused by constant, lethal, and very real, yet unfamiliar threat. This is a game that, according to many, comes as close to inducing that state, as possible for a computer game. Praised for its gripping atmosphere, perfect pacing, and involving gameplay, it's one of the most prominent--in not the most prominent--modern achievements in terror fiction.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in a situation with no escape and the only thing you can do is to push forward, deeper into the nightmare that's becoming more morbid and terrifying by the minute. You will find yourself exploring a half-ruined castle, that witnessed many acts of madness and inhumane cruelty. Deprived of all memories, hunted by spawns of evil, forced to behold sights that shatter your sanity, you will venture into the darkness with no real hope of ever emerging victorious. Mixing a fascinating story, terrifying setting, and well-executed design, this title deserves a place in every horror fan collection.

Are you ready to inject your mind with an excess dose of poisonous terrors? Empty your bladder, switch off the lights, put on your headphones, and throw yourself head-first into Amnesia: The Dark Descent, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 75% discount offer lasts until Saturday, July 27, at 9:59AM GMT.

morciu: Cool I guess. Really boring game if you ask me, it's way below what it's hyped up to be.
avatar
Crosmando: It's an adventure game, it's about solving puzzles. The first-person view and snazzy graphics deceived many people thinking it would be an action game.

The game is gonna be boring if you wander around looking for something to kill
I wasn't expecting an action game, I knew more or less what it was going to be. I just found it painfully mediocre.

i Liked it but thought the ending was teriible But the same happened with the penumbra games.

tfishell: But everyone who wants it has bought it already from a ton of different places
Only if you don't count all the people that actually didn't buy it. (like the full page of posts before yours... and mine now). :p

Downloading... looks good.
And another one off my wishlist. Nice. And only 5 bucks. Can't resist. Instabuy.

Crosmando: It does, just checked after installing

Kabus: Thanks for information. I didn't see mention on game card page.
Hmm, I didn't even know of such... Any knowledge if the HiB (DRM-free) version had it?

If not, maybe there's a reason for me to rebuy this from GOG after all...

tfishell: I can't help but be a little disappointed. Two old games last week was nice, but I would have preferred one last week and one this week.
LOL! What if someone else wanted it the other way, ie. Amnesia last week, and two old games this week? Or even: all three games last week, but no games at all this week?

It may be very hard to fulfill everyone's specific needs. :)

This was unexpected... And at 75% off on release date, has this ever happened before on GOG ?

Probably because Summer Sale wasn't far off
Moment is wishlisted, I am bit broken. Hopefully, Penumbra trilogy coming here.
$5 is a decent price for this if you have somehow managed to miss the countless offers and bundles for this game (including DRM-free). It's a great game, although it does require a great deal of reading.

$20...not so much. In that regard, it actually manages to be slightly cheaper on Desura (where it has also been on sale on multiple occasions) and Gamersgate.
Great game. Great release price. I already own this, but will probably pick it up again depending on the weekend promo. Nice!

If you're simply not scared by the game, it's likely going to be boring and terrible. This is because it becomes painfully obvious just how much the game tries to prevent you from playing it, by constantly messing with your controls and visuals.

I played it for about an hour, and then I quit for this very reason. I do not intend to ever return.

Smannesman: What is this amazing new game I have never heard of or seen before?
You never cease to amaze me GOG.
Wow, you have been missing out. If you enjoy Amnesia, check out Penumbra and Penumbra: Black Plague. They're a two-part series of spiritual prequels from the same studio. They'll probably turn up on Gog over the next six months.

Crosmando: I loved this game, so I won't complain. But it's a tad redundant seeing as the game has been available everywhere DRM-free for ages.

Kabus: Finally on GOG! Is it comes with Amnesia: Justine DLC?
avatar
Crosmando: It does, just checked after installing
Now I am a bit confused... You had this game already from elsewhere and feel the GOG release is redundant... but still you bought the GOG version now and installed it?

Does the HiB bundle version include the same DLC? I can't really tell from my HiB page as it has no description for the game. How do you tell after installation, whether the DLC is there?

I always buy GOG versions of games if I own it elsewhere, since I like to have all my games (mostly) in the same place. Also I like to support this site.

Well, that's nice dedication. :) I don't necessarily do that, e.g. I'm not buying American Conquest, Post Mortem, Cossacks or the potential Vampire Bloodlines here, as I have them from DotEmu already.

So do the other versions where this game has been sold over the last two years include the DLC by default? HiB pages seem to be worthless explaining what the game contains. The HiB link for "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" just points to the developer homepages.
