Like "Voodoo is evil and creepy", that practitioners of it may all be involved in some kind of secret society. It's like in the James Bond film, Live And Let Die. The various characters all tend to fit very strongly into tropes, Gabriel as the womanising writer who can't get at break, his receptionist as the woman who he's constantly flirting with to no avail, the lackadaisical and obstructive desk sergeant, the burnt-out detective who's kind of lazy and doubtful about everything but eventually comes through with an inspired second wind at at certain critical point in the case (and has a habit of slipping evidence to his friend). The obviously suspicious femme fatale that the protagonist falls even though she's obviously involved in the crimes. They're all firmly planted in old, basic traditions. As with the first point, it's all done very well and is very cohesive and smartly written, but it is still non-complex and easily grasped, and certainly not something that older children would find too much for them.

The whole theme of Gabriel Knight 1 was how all religions can be used for good and for evil. It was more than just "voodoo bad".

So, a new update: the second game will be made regardless of how much the Kickstarter makes.

That's... pretty good news.
EDIT: Also, they're sort of hinting it could perhaps even be GK4, but that may be just my wishful thinking.

It's a good thing they've gotten other financing as well. Now that they've confirmed two games I reast with more ease knowing I get more bang to my 50 bucks besides those hard to find GK novels.

Good move with adding the Moebius BigBox to the 100$ tier, that should get the "not quite swimming in dough collectors" going.

-edit- Nvm I saw it. It's on the main KS page.
Still I think they could have handled the updates better. I wouldn't have known, were it not for this thread. Regardless, $200 reward tier here I come!

This was exactly what the Kickstarter needed. Now it'll make it for sure, and probably with an okay margin too.

Awesome news! It must be GK4! Otherwise they are trolling us worse than the Enigmatic T.
They said, 3rd person adventure, Dark Mystery, we will be excited. Can't be anything else.
