Loved this game, and latest e-mail from GOG says "coming soon." It can't be soon enough as far as I'm concerned!
What a great game. Light hearted and fun, cool atmosphere, great random map system. I loved the quick strikes of the fragile phoenixes in this one, though some thought they could make the game too easy sometimes. Still, there were enough factions to play that the game remained a fun challenge. I joyously wasted many hours on this game and its sequel, HOMM2.
Let's hope both these games get here fast! They're huge treats and I've been wanting to replay them for a long time.
Special request to GOG: Please do whatever you can to get supplemental materials, as they really help in figuring out possible build orders. The original booklet laying out build orders was not organized in a way that made it particularly easy to figure out prerequisites for building your cities and armies, but ... the fold-out posters that came with the game were a huge help.
Considering the "weight" of these games in the grand scheme of things, I'm expecting GoG to do it proper in terms of all expansions/patches/some mod links for each game in the series---really giving it a strong effort just as they have the likes of Fallout and Jagged Alliance.
I'm hoping they're bringing the rest of the series as well, although if they just give us number 2, I'm a happy camper.
Word on the street (Street being http://www.neoseeker.com/news/10249-good-old-games-signs-ubisoft-into-its-digital-catalogue/ ) is it was supposed to come today, but GOG is trying to squeeze it down to 5.99, although Ubi want all of their catalogue to be sold at 9.99. Admittedly this source is probably 2nd,3rd or 4th hand knowledge, but it is corroborated by the fact that no price is up for it yet on its page, despite in an interview, one of the GOG team is quoted as saying that all Ubi games would be 9.99.
Hope this game comes up soon, and i for one would not mind if it was sold for 9.99. even though it is v.old, it is v. hard to get hold of, only place ive found it is in a Ubisoft bundle of the 5 HOMM games, aparently no longer at retail, that i could only find for 50 of my british pounds. No thank you. And even if i could find a copy of the game, it might not even work on XP. With GOG, I would be safe in the knowledge that it would work.
(P.S. I hope no-one from Ubi is reading this, as although i would pay 9.99, i would rather pay 5.99)

I can safely say that I wouldn't pay $9.99.
Me neither. In fact, Ubisoft are pushing their luck by charging $9.99 for the Tom Clancy-games as well.
Hmm... But I can't think of a single instance of a GOG game changing price, once it was set, other than temporarily, as part of a promo. Still, let's hope they see the error of their ways. Depends how many people are willing to shell out $9.99 of course.

Arx Fatalis.
Regarding HoMM I would personally not dare to bet that the price will be 9.99. Notice that it is the only game without a set price, that is not the case for the other upcoming Ubi games that are listed as 9.99. So it is not set.

I wonder if there is any chance of seeing any of the Might & Magic games here... I'm not a big fan of the HoMM series, but I still think I'll give this one a try, since I haven't played any one of them before number three, which was wildly popular amongst a lot of people here some years ago.
I want Heroes 3. It was the only Heroes game that i liked. Ok, LOVED. :D Please GoG, make it happen.
I could deal with $9.99, but if they go that route each game NEEDS to include all expansions and such to make it tolerable in comparison to many other games offered on here.
My guess is that all their "active/3d/modernish" stuff will float for 9.99 and all the "forgotten/older" stuff may well fly for 5.99. Since HoMM is the only one of the latter mentioned thus far in the coming soon bit, that'd be the thing to wrangle I reckon.
Double post, sorry. My browser is acting strange. :\

I want Heroes 3 too. And as for asking 9.99 for the first one, I feel like it's a bit too much.

Even 5.99$ would be hard to swallow for just HoMM 1. They really should have offered at least HoMM 1&2+Expansions for 5.99 and HoMM 3&4+Expansions for 9.99$.

Well yeah, I won't buy HOMM 1 even if it's $5.99, but I feel like a lot of other people would pay that for it, which is why I was saying it. What you said would be a pretty sweet deal though, and I'd jump on that for sure.
