Lanttu: Do you have any year? When did you played this? I mean - are we looking amiga games or Xbox 360 games for extreme demented dude. :D
Elite II: Frontier? That old? edit: no.. Not Elite. No surface there if I remember right... Terminal Velocity? Naa... Hmm...

Keph: As I said, this was kind of near the dawn of DVD era, back when I could only play the demo, because DVD drives were expensive ;)
Also, any Wing Commander from 3 upwards I could imagine on a DVD, but this one didn't seem to have anything justifying it being released on that medium, as opposed to CDs ;)
This could also be wrong, but I THINK this was in windows 95/98 era.

Oh! You mean Lander! Demo of that game with my CS joystick. Only one mission - land to the surface? Right? Wasn't very "game of the year" material, but fun. :D
Also for Chris,
Those spells sounds pretty much like DnD game (Earthly Fist exspecialy brings back memories), but personally I wasn't really big fan of those PC versions. :D But are you saying that it was released after stonekeep and it still was First person? There wasn't many of FIrst person RPG's after Diablo so your list should be very short... atleast on PC...
But maybe some DnD player can help you with this...
Yes, that certainly looks like what I was thinking about! Thanks ;)
I didn't even know that Psygnosis made this, nor did I remember any weapons, but the colors, the controls, everything, seem just about right :)
Edit: and mobygames confirms what I remembered: "his was one of the earliest games to be released on DVD, at a time when DVD drives were still quite new; it had a lengthy intro movie and a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, although the game itself did not justify the extra storage capacity", heh ;)

It wasn't DnD but I gave your post a point for trying to help anyway. I finally found it! I spent some time on Moby Games and finally stumbled across it. I was having trouble finding it because I was convinced it was after Stonekeep (1995) and was Windows. It turns out both were wrong. It came out in the same year as Stonekeep and was listed under DOS. What was it?
Anvil of Dawn

Now to go over and add it to the GOG wish list before I forget again.
