cioran: Narakir, not everyone in the academy is a neutral old man.
I'm also interested in the Radical Traditionalists as well as Pessimism. Evola overlaps substantially with that group. He's anti-democracy, a cultural racist, anti-egalitarian and a number of other things that scare folks from your neck of the world. He also constructed one of the most fascinating metaphysical systems of the 20th century.
As far as I know these books are certainly banned because of the associations with Fascism. A lot of the rest of the stuff I own in political philo is controversial. You've probably never heard of most of it, especially the American and Weimar German stuff. Doesn't get read much in Europe.
I also have most of Gentile's books. Brilliant political philosopher, probably the greatest Hegelian scholar of all time, and wrote a magnificent treatise on education. Ghostwrote Mussolini's Doctrine of Fascism, hence the damnatio memoriae.
Having had work censored in my own country, I tend to be very cognizant of these things.

I'm not neutral either especially towards Radical Traditionalists and Pessimism which explains why you find French existentialists incoherent.
About the books, you're right, they're nearly impossible to find for non-high graded academicians that may probably have restricted access to them. IMO That's a shame because, while I doubt loads of people would actually read them because of the socio-ideological censorship, they're considered to be dangerous/embarrassing for those who're banning them for obvious reasons...
woaw look at this dusty old thread!
Anyhoo, I've just finished setting up my cichlid-aquarium(hence the hobby connection) and remembered reading somewhere that one of you guys kept african cichilds, and thought i'd show this new baby, so please say what you think of it!
Ofcourse, i realize that there are no fish yet, and that most of you guys will think "dude, it's sand and a pile of rocks"...
but isn't it a beautiful pile of rocks?

- Voracious reader, usually a couple of books on the go at any one time.
- Have played acoustic guitar for 15 years.
- Have been collecting and painting Games Workshop miniatures for 20 years.
- Love all outdoors activities, especially hiking, camping and freshwater swimming.
- Repairing computers on what seems a constant basis for friends and family.
Bumping an old thread, but with all of users now on gog, might be time for a refresh (or not.)

Actually have ulterior motives, in that I would like to get rid of some chaetomorpha algae, a saltwater plant, which has all but overtaken a 150 gallon tank I have.

What started out as a golfball sized sphere, has erupted into a mass which comprises roughly 2/3 of my tank in the space of a year. Tons of amphipods inhabit the stuff, as well as various feather duster like creatures which seem to have likewise come from nowhere.

I'm not selling it, and you are more than welcome to some if your local ordinances do not list it as an invasive species (know of none, but I don't know every law in every locality either.)

Other hobbies are freshwater aquarium(s), have tons of baby corydoras catfish, and collecting old roman coins, as well as reading, target shooting, and drinking :-)

Edit to add: Chaeto is best used in a refugium, but I used in the main tank as to provide shelter for the little life forms that seahorses eat. Makes a nice breeding ground for amphipods/copepods.

Couldn't resist to responding, as I lived in a place where someone was doing that.

Apparently, some husband/wife team had a slave dungeon going around Syracuse NY for years that encompassed the timeframe I lived in a suburb of there.

Goofy part is, all kinds of weird shit would happen in my place when I was at work, and my wife would call me at work (40 miles away) to tell me of the spooky crap. I thought she was nuts, but she wasn't.

Not making story any longer, though it is, but if you, or them, you could have made my life one hell of alot easier if you would have grabbed her :-)
We should update this thread? Sure, why not.

Well, lets see, I play games, watch movies, work the odd program, build plastic models (military stuff mostly), read history books (military stuff mos... heck, it's the default theme, ok? :D), some fantasy books and comedy, work out and jog when my brain starts begging me to get in shape for Christ's sake, play airsoft and paintball occasionally, go for a hike in the mountains from time to time, Skiing and ice skating in the winter,...

When I get some extra room and money, I just might make myself a small workshop so I can start maiming myself in the name of craftsmanship. But just to tinker around, nothing grandiose or long term.
Lets see :

-- collecting games (more than gaming these days)
-- watching movies
-- avid reader (mostly scifi, fantasy, thrillers)
-- photography
-- travelling
-- eating out
-- bushwalking
-- forgot to add anime LOL
etc...

I'm heavily into tabletop gaming as well, be it pen & paper RPGs, board games, wargames and such. I'm even working on a boardgame of my own (which is turning out pretty well, if I may say so myself). I also enjoy painting.
An extremely lazy and passive business card collector...
Besides gaming I like listening to music, browsing the internet and programming. That's really about it with my hobbies. I'm generally not the type of person to be interested in any hobbies (besides those four mentioned) for too long, so I tend to switch things around a lot.
Music music music. I mostly play folk music (Irish, English, Scottish, French, Belgian etc. tunes) with friends but more recently I've started going to a couple of sessions. It's good fun but I'm still really slow at picking up new tunes.
