Does someone have a list of all the options? I'd would really like to see how on earth you can make such a mess of something this simple: male, female and a handful of genetical anomalies. Trans and Bi are not genders, those are sexual preferences. If a guy likes guys and girls his gender is still male, just his sexual preference is different.

As far as I know human beings are male, female, or both (have male and female parts). Orientation I figure is separate from gender.

Just use bisexual and that should probably include everyone living at least partially without conveying too much info.

While I think it's a nice thing to expand to more than just male or female (gender isn't the same as sex, after all), I honestly have to say... 50? Really? I'd be hard pressed to go beyond two handfuls of meaningful terms, and that is by including both sex and gender under the same header.

Yes, it does. You have expressed concern that evil trans people might deprive you of a right to determine your own gender as you see fit in the OP. That concern is irrational, and there's a word for it: transphobia.

Trans is neither a gender nor a preference. It's a word to denote a person whose physical appearance does not currently match or had to be medically corrected to match their gender (no matter what it is).
